Serpentine soils containing high levels of nickel and other metals are particularly preferred by some plants that accumulate nickel in their bodies. In this study, the Ni, Co, and Cr accumulation capacities of A. murale grown in Guleman's serpentine soils were measured.

Secondary traumatic stress in nurses working with patients with suspected/confirmed COVID-19 in Turkey.

Purpose: This study aimed to determine the level of secondary traumatic stress in nurses (n = 205) working with patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 in Turkey.

Design And Methods: Data were collected using the personal information form and Secondary Traumatic Stress Scale.

Findings: Of the total sample, 62% were female and 52% of nurses were in the 20- to 30-years age range.

Material And Method: The sample of this descriptive study consisted of 160 news articles published between 11 March and 11 April 2020 on the websites of the three highest-circulating newspapers throughout the nation. A quantitative media context analysis method, consisting of 14 questions and 2 sections was employed to evaluate news on the newspapers.

Assessing psychometric properties of Turkish version of the stressor scale for emergency nurses.

Objectives: This study was carried out as a methodological study to adapt the stressor scale for emergency nurses to Turkish and to test its validity and reliability.

Materials And Methods: Data were collected between April 2019 and December 2019 from 250 emergency nurses working in the emergency department of two different universities and two state hospitals. The scale was reapplied to 40 emergency nurses from the sample group 3 weeks after the first application.

Investigation of the effect of web-based diabetes education on metabolic parameters in people with type 2 diabetes: A randomized controlled trial.

Objectives: The study was done experimentally to test the effect of diabetes on body mass index (BMI), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, fasting blood glucose and postprandial blood glucose.

Methods: In the randomization performed, with 80 percent power, 80 people with Type 2 diabetes were found to be suitable for sampling. Personal data forms were filled in by conducting a face-to-face interview with both the experimental and control groups for randomization purposes.

An ioMRI-assisted case of cervical intramedullary diffuse glioma resection.

Purpose: To date, application of intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (ioMRI) to enhance surgical quality for spinal intramedullary neoplastic lesions has been rarely reported. Moreover, in developing countries or regions, ioMRI accessibility remains very limited. This report describes a technology design of high-field ioMRI accessible for multioperation rooms via a case presentation of an imaging-assisted surgical excision of human cervical spinal cord diffuse glioma.

Extraanatomical coronary artery bypass grafting in patients with severely atherosclerotic (Porcelain) aorta.

Background: Cannulation, cross clamping, or partial clamping of the aorta during a proximal anastomosis may cause embolic complications in patients with severely atherosclerotic (porcelain) aortas. These patients carry high morbidity and mortality risks due to intraoperative atheroembolism.

Purpose: This study aims to complement the authors' prior findings on palisade endings in extraocular muscles (EOMs) of monkeys, and to clarify whether palisade endings are cholinergic motor or cholinergic sensory.

Methods: Macaque monkeys (Macaca fascicularis, n = 10) of both sexes were analyzed using three-dimensional (3D) reconstructions, confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), and conventional/immuno transmission electron microscopy (TEM). For CLSM, we used three combinations of triple fluorescent labeling.

Sensory control of extraocular muscles.

The role of sensory receptors in eye muscles is not well understood, but there is physiological and clinical evidence for the presence of proprioceptive signals in many areas of the central nervous system. It is unclear which structures generate these sensory signals, and which central neural pathways are involved. Three different types of receptors are associated with eye muscles: (1) muscle spindles, (2) palisade endings, and (3) Golgi tendon organs, but their occurrence varies wildly between species.

The role of cartilage canals in endochondral and perichondral bone formation: are there similarities between these two processes?

We investigated the development of cartilage canals to clarify their function in the process of bone formation. Cartilage canals are tubes containing vessels that are found in the hyaline cartilage prior to the formation of a secondary ossification centre (SOC). Their exact role is still controversial and it is unclear whether they contribute to endochondral bone formation when an SOC appears.

Repair of subtotal tympanic membrane perforations with Seprafilm.

Objectives: We studied the experimental use of Seprafilm, a sheet-like film form of hyaluronic acid, in the repair of subtotal perforations of the tympanic membrane (TM), and the durability of such repairs.

Method: The research was conducted on 42 Sprague-Dawley rats. Right TMs of all rats were subtotally and thermally perforated in the same fashion.

Alpha-Gal on bioprostheses: xenograft immune response in cardiac surgery.

Background: The alpha-Gal (Galalpha1,3-Galbeta1-4GlcNAc-R) epitope is the major xenoantigen causing hyperacute rejection of pig organs transplanted into primates. Porcine bioprostheses are utilized in cardiac surgery. However, premature degeneration of bioprostheses has limited utilization in younger patients and the immune response remains elusive.

Three-dimensional (3D) reconstructions were performed of GTOs.

Sudden unexpected death caused by a colloid cyst of the third ventricle in young apparently healthy persons is an uncommon phenomenon that nevertheless occurs regularly in medical examiner's cases and may occur in general hospital pathology practice. This entity has not received proper attention in the general or forensic pathology literature in spite of the fact that sudden death has been appreciated in the clinical literature for many years. We report four cases of sudden unexpected death in young persons whose only major previous complaint was that the chronic relapsing headaches.
