Aims: To assess whether mechanical circulatory support (MCS), including intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) or veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), can help improve neurological outcomes in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA).
Methods: This is a retrospective observational cohort study performed in China Medical University Hospital, Taichung, Taiwan. Adult patients with OHCA admitted between January 2015 and June 2023.

In a previous study, we reported that petasin possesses biological effects including inhibition of testosterone production and the release of corticosterone from rat zona fasciculata-reticularis cells, and anti-proliferative effect on human T24 bladder carcinoma cells.
Materials And Methods: In the present study, we assessed the effects of S-petasin and iso-S-petasin on the growth and proliferation of two hormone-independent DU145 and PC3 and one hormone-dependent LNCaP prostate cancer cell line at concentrations of 10(-7)-10(-5) mol/l.
Transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is beneficial in myocardial infarction and hind limb ischemia, but its ability to ameliorate atherosclerosis remains unknown. Here, the effects of MSCs on inhibiting endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis were investigated in human/mouse endothelial cells treated with oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL) and in apolipoprotein E-deficient (apoE-/-) mice fed a high-fat diet. Using ACE inhibitory screenings, two penta-peptides, KTCGY and KRIHF, were selected for ex vivo and in vivo experiments.
Results: KTCGY, KRIHF, and captopril were shown to have similar vasodilating effects against phenylephrine (PE)-induced tensions in rat endothelium-dependent thoracic aortic rings, however, KTCGYKTCGY (two-repeated KTCGY) and TCGYTCGY (two-repeated TCGY) were showed endothelium-independent vasodilating effects against PE-induced tensions.
