Background: Data sharing accelerates scientific progress and improves evidence quality. Even though journals and funding institutions require investigators to share data, only a small part of studies made their data publicly available upon publication. The procedures necessary to share retrospective data for re-use in secondary data analysis projects can be cumbersome.

Rapid diagnostics often rely on nonstructural proteins to generate specific antibodies. This study aimed to produce IgG antibodies from the recombinant ZIKV protein and plant-expressed NS2B protein for arbovirus detection in serum and urine samples.

Objectives: This pilot study, conducted on 17 expectorating CF adolescents, compared sputa obtained the same day, in a stable period, by autogenic drainage (expectorating sputum, ES) and 4 h later after inhaling hypertonic saline (IS).
Results: No difference was noted concerning weight, volume, and percentage of dead cells between the two collection methods.

Leishmaniasis is a chronic inflammatory zoonotic illness caused by protozoan flagellates belonging to the genus. Current data suggest that over 1 billion people worldwide are susceptible to infection, primarily in tropical and subtropical countries, where up to 2 million new cases are reported annually. Therefore, the development of a vaccine is crucial to combating this disease.

It is the only disease-modifying treatment for hereditary TTR amyloidosis with peripheral neuropathy (ATTRv-PN) available in the National Therapeutic Form (Formulário Terapêutico Nacional, FTN, in Portuguese) of the Brazilian Unified Health System (Sistema Único de Saúde, SUS, in Portuguese).
Objective: To assess if the efficacy and safety of tafamidis in the Brazilian real-world experience are comparable to the results of clinical trials.
Pentaclethra macroloba is a hyperdominant species with multiple uses in the Amazon. This species tolerates varying flood amplitudes, however the effect of flood topographic gradient on its ecophysiology remains unclear. We want to know if individuals from the high (10 trees) and low (20 trees) várzea show distinct phenological patterns as a function of the flood gradient, as well as their colonization strategies and their seed predators.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) can impair activities of daily living (ADL), reducing quality of life. The influence of biopsychosocial factors on ADL limitations among CKD patients remains unclear. This study aims to investigate associations between these factors and ADL limitations among CKD patients in the Brazilian population.

In Brazil, at least four lineages of influenza A virus circulate pig population: 2009 H1N1 flu pandemic (pH1N1), human-seasonal origin H3N2, H1N1 and H1N2 (huH1 lineages) viruses. Studies related to the occurrence of swine influenza A virus (SIAV) in Brazilian herds have been detecting an increase of occurrence of huH1 lineages. This study aimed to construct recombinant vaccines against the huH1N1 virus and test the immunogens in a murine model.

Data collection via multiple CKD-aP instruments allows the evaluation of different domains and measurements of CKD-aP burden and may help tailor data capture for future research or clinical care.
Methods: An electronic PRO (ePRO) survey was distributed to European hemodialysis (HD) patients enrolled in the Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) in 2021-23.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), chronic inflammatory-related diseases represent the greatest threat to human health. Indeed, failure in the resolution of inflammation leads to serious pathological conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders that are often associated with extremely high human suffering and societal and economic burdens. Despite the number and efficacy of available therapeutic agents have been increased, the serious side effects associated with some of them often create a very high risk/benefit ratio for patients.

We identified knowledge gaps through previously conducted systematic reviews, which informed a Delphi expert consultation on future AMR research priorities and harmonisation strategies to support data-driven decision-making. Consensus (≥80% agreement) on importance and feasibility of research topics was achieved in two rounds, involving 24 of 39 and 19 of 24 invited experts, respectively.

However, observational data are often lacking, particularly from developing countries, hindering effective conservation design. One such data-poor area is the Gulf of Guinea, an understudied and biodiverse region where coastal waters play a critical role in coastal livelihoods.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate whether the plant species Stachys byzantina produces bioactives with the potential to delay the skin ageing process and treat hyperpigmentation conditions.
Methods: The antioxidant action was assessed by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazylradical scavenging, Griess reaction, oxygen radical absorption capacity, and β-carotene bleaching assays. Inhibitory activities for tyrosinase, hyaluronidase, and elastase enzymes were tested.
We describe the geographical variation in tree species composition across Amazonian forests and show how environmental conditions are associated with species turnover. Our analyses are based on 2023 forest inventory plots (1 ha) that provide abundance data for a total of 5188 tree species. Within-plot species composition reflected both local environmental conditions (especially soil nutrients and hydrology) and geographical regions.

Fully manual surveillance is time-consuming and prone to subjectivity and inter-individual variability, which can be partly overcome by semi-automated surveillance. Algorithms used in orthopaedic SSI semi-automated surveillance have reported high sensitivity and important workload reduction.
