The diabetic foot consumes a large number of resources and has a profound negative impact on quality of life, representing the major non-traumatic cause of lower limb amputation in adults. The present report describes a diabetic patient with a recurrent plantar ulcer in the topography of the heads of the second, third, and fourth metatarsals. The patient was treated using the distal metatarsal diaphyseal osteotomy (DMDO) technique in these bones, an Akin-type percutaneous osteotomy in the proximal phalanx of the hallux, and debridement.

: Vascular calcification (VC) is a crucial risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVD), particularly in chronic kidney disease (CKD) populations. However, the specific relationship between VC and end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis (PD) remains to be fully understood. The identification of new biomarkers to improve VC diagnosis and monitoring would significantly impact cardiovascular risk management in these high-risk patients.

This study aimed to comprehensively characterise atmospheric PM in an environment impacted by former tungsten-tin mining exploration at Regoufe mine (Arouca, Portugal). Although this is a deactivated mine, its location near population clusters and integration into a Geopark belonging to the "World Geoparks Network" with frequent presence of hikers highlight the importance of air quality monitoring to keep its Geopark classification.

Design: Descriptive clinical study.
Materials And Methods: We obtained 2 biopsy fragments (tissue samples) from 44 patients with venous ulcers treated at a public outpatient clinic in a university hospital in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Effects on physiology were evaluated in 49 free-ranging moose (Alces alces), 11 adult males, 36 females, two of unknown sex) in Minnesota, USA, immobilized by helicopter darting with thiafentanil (10 mg) and xylazine (30 mg) in February 2020 and March 2021. Pursuit time (PT), induction time (IT), recumbency time (RT), recovery time (RC), temperature (T), and body position were recorded. For 14 females, respiratory rate (RR), pulse rate (PR), and pulse oximetry (SpO2) were obtained before and at 1, 5, and 10 min after 4 L/min nasal oxygen supplementation was started; pH, lactate (Lac), arterial oxygen (PaO2), and carbon dioxide (PaCO2) tensions were obtained pre-treatment and 5 min post-treatment.

Methods: Descriptive analyses were performed with absolute and relative frequencies of studies published between 1993 and 2022. Inter-rater agreement was analyzed by percentage of agreement and Kappa statistic (95%CI).
Background: Recent data from European studies (EUROASPIRE V, DA VINCI, SANTORINI) indicate that achieving the LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) target in patients at very high cardiovascular risk is uncommon. Additionally, using a combination therapy involving statins and ezetimibe remains infrequent.
Methods: A single-center assessment of a pre-defined lipid lowering treatment algorithm's effectiveness at achieving the LDL-C target in patients at very high cardiovascular risk one month and one year after hospitalization.
Over half of all people diagnosed with cancer receive radiation therapy. Moderate to severe radiation dermatitis occurs in most human radiation patients, causing pain, aesthetic distress, and a negative impact on tumor control. No effective prevention or treatment for radiation dermatitis exists.

Objective: To assess the perceptions of mothers and health professionals about the dog-assisted therapy for children with congenital Zika Virus syndrome.
Method: Qualitative, descriptive-exploratory research, with six mothers of children with congenital Zika Virus syndrome and six health professionals. Data were obtained at a Brazilian Specialized rehabilitation center in Paraíba, through semi-structured interviews, between February and October 2019.

Objective: Phase 1: to determine the feasibility of desensitizing ventral branches of spinal nerves within the rectus sheath using an ultrasound-guided rectus sheath block (USRSB). Phase 2: to determine the effect of preoperative USRSB on intraoperative responses to surgical stimulation and postoperative pain.
Study Design: Cadaveric study and prospective, randomized, blinded, parallel-arm clinical trial.
Background: Incomplete revascularization (ICR) has been associated with a worse prognosis after a percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). In NSTEMI patients with multivessel disease (MVD) however, the benefit of a complete revascularization (CR) remains unclear.
Methods: Patients presenting with an NSTEMI and MVD were selected from the global e-ULTIMASTER registry and grouped according to completeness of revascularization at index hospitalization discharge.
Lung transplantation (LT) constitutes the last therapeutic option for selected patients with end-stage respiratory disease. Primary graft dysfunction (PGD) is a form of severe lung injury, occurring in the first 72 h following LT and constitutes the most common cause of early death after LT. The presence of pulmonary hypertension (PH) has been reported to favor PGD development, with a negative impact on patients' outcomes while complicating medical management.

Among the pests affecting this crop, the weevil Sphenophorus levis, Vaurie 1978 (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), is increasingly becoming a significant threat in southern South America.

The objective of this study was to determine which analytical technique is most effective for the analysis of MPs in agricultural soils. Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), multispectral analysis, and X-ray diffraction were used to analyze sections of clay soil containing varying percentages of virgin white MPs from 0 to 100%.
