Background: Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) is a sensitive method with high specificity. Background: Patients with malignancies have an increased risk for thromboembolic events due to the release of tissue factor by the tumor, damage to the vessel wall, and immobilization. Moreover, tumors may improve their growth and metastatic spread by utilizing the coagulation system. To date, no information is available on the additional role of prothrombotic mutations in these patients.
