Characterizing cortical plasticity becomes increasingly important for identifying compensatory mechanisms and structural reserve in the ageing population. While cortical thickness (CT) largely contributed to systems neuroscience, it incompletely informs about the underlying neuroplastic pathophysiology. In turn, microstructural characteristics may correspond to atrophy mechanisms in a more sensitive way.

Objective: Skincare is a part of rosacea treatment; patients benefit from complementary dermo-cosmetic care as well as medical treatments. Some skincare habits are known to trigger and exacerbate rosacea, but there are very few epidemiological studies on this matter.

Methods: A total of 200 people, including 100 patients with rosacea and 100 controls, were included in the study.

Brain imaging has significantly contributed to our understanding of the cerebellum being involved in recovery after non-cerebellar stroke. Due to its connections with supratentorial brain networks, acute stroke can alter the function and structure of the contralesional cerebellum, known as crossed cerebellar diaschisis (CCD). Data on the spatially precise distribution of structural CCD and their implications for persistent deficits after stroke are notably limited.

Background: The goal of skin cleansing is to reduce sebum and exogenous pollutants and control the skin microbiome. Surfactants in cleansers dissolve hydrophobic substances in an aqueous phase and allow them to move away from the skin's surface. The negative effect of surfactants on the skin barrier can be reduced by changing the solution properties.

Cortical thickness analyses have provided valuable insights into changes in cortical brain structure after stroke and their association with recovery. Across studies though, relationships between cortical structure and function show inconsistent results. Recent developments in diffusion-weighted imaging of the cortex have paved the way to uncover hidden aspects of stroke-related alterations in cortical microstructure, going beyond cortical thickness as a surrogate for cortical macrostructure.

Introduction: The relationship between facial dermatoses and blepharitis has been known for a long time.

Objectives: We aimed to investigate the frequency of accompanying facial dermatoses in patients with blepharitis and their relationship with the severity of blepharitis.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 95 patients with blepharitis were examined for attending facial dermatoses.

Ischemic stroke leads to excitability changes of the motor network as probed by means of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). There is still limited data that shows to what extent structural alterations of the motor network might be linked to excitability changes. Previous results argue that the microstructural state of specific corticofugal motor tracts such as the corticospinal tract associate with cortical excitability in chronic stroke patients.

Introduction: With the increase in the use of social media, there is a steady increase in demand for medical, surgical, and cosmetic procedures. Dermatologists and other physicians are leaving their cosmetic practice to non-physician service providers to keep up with the growing demand for cosmetic procedures.

Objectives: To examine the gender, professions, and the method of nevi treatment of the profiles using #bensilme and #moleremoval hashtags on Instagram and to investigate the extent of cosmetic procedures comparing Turkey's situation with other countries.

Background And Purpose: Cortical beta oscillations are reported to serve as robust measures of the integrity of the human motor system. Their alterations after stroke, such as reduced movement-related beta desynchronization in the primary motor cortex, have been repeatedly related to the level of impairment. However, there is only little data whether such measures of brain function might directly relate to structural brain changes after stroke.

The corticospinal tract is the most intensively investigated tract of the human motor system in stroke rehabilitative research. Diffusion-tensor-imaging gives insights into its microstructure, and transcranial magnetic stimulation assesses its excitability. Previous data on the interrelationship between both measures are contradictory.

The relationships between cancer caused by HPV and some vitamins, as well as leucocytes and their ratios, have been investigated in the literature. Our aim is to evaluate these relationships at the level of genital wart in terms of the investigated parameters and lesion numbers. Data were obtained from 98 and 94 patients for groups one and two, including warts patients and healthy people respectively.

Brain imaging has recently evidenced that the structural state of distinct reciprocal cortico-cerebellar fiber tracts, the dentato-thalamo-cortical tract (DTCT), and the cortico-ponto-cerebellar tract (CPCeT), significantly influences residual motor output in chronic stroke patients, independent from the level of damage to the corticospinal tract (CST). Whether such structural information might also directly relate to measures of cortical excitability is an open question. Eighteen chronic stroke patients with supratentorial ischemic lesions and 17 healthy controls underwent transcranial magnetic stimulation to assess recruitment curves of motor evoked potentials of both hemispheres.

Background: Essential hyperhidrosis is a disease that expresses itself with excessive sweating in palmar, plantar, axillary, and craniofacial regions. The etiopathogenesis of the disease, which has particular importance because of leading to psychosocial morbidity, could have not been completely elucidated. In previous studies, it has been shown that oxidative stress might play a role in the pathogenesis.

Specimens of the nickel base alloy IN 718 deformed at high strain rate (approximately 10 s(-1)), as realized in a screw press, have higher strength than parts forged conventionally in a hydraulic press. Microstructure analyses in light and transmission electron microscopes reveal the precipitation of very small Ni(3)Nb particles (gamma"-phase) to be the reason for the increased hardness. Several processing routes are discussed and analyzed in relation to the TTT-diagram of IN 718.

: Design rules are described here for high-temperature straining stages for transmission electron microscopy. Temperatures above 1000 degreesC can be attained by electron bombardment of the specimen grips. Thermal equilibrium can be reached in a short time by carrying off the heat by water cooling.
