Article Synopsis
  • The study compared the capsular volume of patients with shoulder instability to those without using MR arthrography, aiming to create a reliable screening method.
  • In a retrospective analysis of 21 patients with shoulder instability and 21 controls, volumetric measurements of various shoulder components were taken from 3D MR images.
  • Results showed that the instability group had a significantly larger total joint volume and greater volumes in specific shoulder areas compared to the control group, suggesting that 3D volumetric assessment can aid in clinical evaluations and treatment decisions for shoulder instability.

This case report presents the detailed clinical and radiological findings of a 63-year-old male patient who presented with right shoulder pain. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance arthrography (MRA) revealed significant tears in most of the rotator cuff muscles. Despite these findings, the patient was able to perform full shoulder movements, suggesting that aponeurotic expansion may play a crucial role in this scenario.

This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between SLAP lesions and the shoulder joint capsule thickness via MR arthrography. Understanding the relationship between SLAP lesions and the joint capsule thickness is important because an increased capsule thickness may indicate chronic inflammation and contribute to persistent pain and dysfunction. These findings have significant clinical implications for the diagnosis, management, and treatment strategies of shoulder joint pathologies.

Introduction: The ghrelin system, which generates the appetite hormone, is harmed by obesity, a problem of worldwide public health. An efficient way to cure obesity is through bariatric surgery. This randomized controlled study's objective was to assess preoperative diet-related DNA methylation of Ghrelin (GHRL) levels in patients undergoing bariatric surgery.

Objectives: In this study, we aimed to compare conventional and T1-weighted volumetric magnetic resonance arthrography (MRA) in the diagnosis and grading of glenoid cartilage defects that accompany labral pathologies.

Materials And Methods: A total of 79 patients who were prediagnosed with labrum pathologies based on shoulder magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) had MRA and CTA between December 2021 and May 2022. CTA was regarded as reference standard.

Objective: To describe the aponeurotic expansion of supraspinatus tendon (AEST) and biceps tendon abnormalities with magnetic resonance (MR) arthrographic examinations and determine their prevalence in patients, we performed a high-resolution 3D direct MR arthrography.

Materials And Methods: This was a retrospective study of 700 shoulder MR arthrograms performed between May 2010 and January 2022. Extension in the coronal plane of an AEST on 3D fat-suppressed T1-weighted volumetric interpolated breath-hold examination (VIBE) MR arthrography was identified.

Background: The presence of degenerative changes in joint cartilage is one of the major features in osteoarthritis.

Purpose: To investigate the contribution of shear wave elastography and T2* mapping to the early diagnosis of femoral trochlear cartilage damage.

Material And Methods: A total of 30 individuals whose trochlear cartilage structure was evaluated as normal in conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequences (control group) were prospectively compared with 30 patients who had early-stage cartilage damage findings on conventional MRI (study group), by performing B-mode ultrasonography, shear wave elastography, and T2* mapping.

The present study investigated the relationship between pre-procedural radial intima-media thickness (rIMT) and radial artery thrombosis (RAO) in patients undergoing angiography using a transradial approach (TRA). Patients (n = 90) who underwent cerebral or peripheral arterial angiography using TRA were included in the study. Ultrasonographic evaluation was performed before and 12 h after the procedure.

Cemento-ossifying fibroma (COF) is a rare fibro-osseous tumor. The lesion is most commonly seen in people in the third and fourth decade. There are three variants of ossifying fibroma; juvenile trabecular ossifying fibroma, juvenile psammomatoid ossifying fibroma, and COF.

Carotid body tumors (CBTs) originate from the paraganglionic tissue in the bifurcation of the common carotid artery. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging is a commonly used diagnostic method in the preoperative diagnosis of these tumors. In this study, we demonstrated an isthmus between the right and left carotid body tumors in a patient with bilateral CBT.

Nasopharyngeal stenosis is a rare condition and occurs usually secondary to nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal surgery and radiotherapy. It may cause obstructive symptoms in patients and is diagnosed usually with nasopharyngoscopy. Treatment is difficult and requires different surgical techniques including balloon dilatation.

Background: Supratentorial midline epidural hematoma is rare but challenging in diagnosis and management. Indication for surgery can arise even following hospital admission. Being familiar to the presentation and watching out for direct and indirect signs on axial computed tomography (CT) such as suture diastasis or fracture traversing midline are essential to plan multi-planar CT enabling exact diagnosis including form and mass effect of hematoma.

Background: Despite global prevention and quarantine efforts, the incidence of COVID-19 disease continues to increase. As a possible cause, our aim was to investigate which parameters increase the sensitivity or protection against COVID-19 between RT-PCR positive and RT-PCR negative cases in patients admitted to the emergency department.

Methods: In the pandemic process, patients admitted to the hospital with suspicion of COVID-19 were evaluated retrospectively.

Objective: Imams are professional voice users and they are at high risk of developing voice problems. The aim of the present study was to investigate vocal acoustic parameters and voice handicap index (VHI) scores in Turkish imams and comparing these paramaters with a control group of male nonprofessional voice users.

Methods: A total of 62 active working Turkish imams that never applied to our clinic with voice problems volunteered as subjects for the study and the control group consisted of 47 male nonprofessional voice users.
