Hot stamping is a well-known process to produce structural automotive parts with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. However, this process is more expensive due to the lower energy efficiency and operating cost of the traditional roller-hearth furnace. Additionally, lower ductility and toughness are commonly recognized as the main disadvantages of the current hot stamped ultra-high-strength parts.

Half smooth tongue sole, Cynoglossus semilaevis (Pleuronectiformes, Cynoglossidae), is an important aquaculture species throughout coastal areas of China which has a high nutritional and economic value. Genetic linkage map is an important tool for accelerating aquatic breeding process through marker assisted selection (MAS) and quantitative trait locus (QTL). Here, 325 polymorphic microsatellite markers were explored and sex-specific genetic linkage map were constructed using these markers.

Article Synopsis
  • Hepcidin is an antimicrobial peptide that plays a key role in both innate immunity and iron regulation, leading to the investigation of a hepcidin gene (CsHepcidin) from the half-smooth tongue sole.
  • The CsHepcidin gene structure consists of 3 exons and 2 introns, showing significant similarity to other hepcidins, particularly with its key features such as a 24-amino-acid signal peptide and eight conserved cysteine residues.
  • Expression analysis reveals that CsHepcidin is present in low levels in eggs, increases after hatching, and is induced in response to bacterial infections, indicating it may function in the immune response and suggesting a need for further research on its role
