The gut microbiota is a complex ecosystem that is essential for the metabolism, immunity and health of the host. The gut microbiota also plays a critical role in nutrient absorption and metabolism, and nutrients can influence the growth and composition of the gut microbiota. To gain a better understanding of the relationship between the gut microbial composition and nutrient metabolism, we used a pig model by collecting the contents of the different intestinal locations from six pigs to investigate microbial composition in different intestinal locations based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing and the concentrations of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), amino acids, fat, and crude ash in different intestinal locations using gas chromatography and chemical analysis.

We used direct repair plus intersegment pedicle screw fixation for the treatment of lumbar spondylolysis. The aim of this observational study was to assess the effects of this technique and evaluate various risk factors potentially predicting the probability of disc and facet joint degeneration after instrumentation.

Excessive lipid accumulation and high oxidative stress have become a serious health and economic problem in the pig industry. Fatness characteristics are crucial in pig production since they are closely related to meat quality. The gut microbiome is well acknowledged as a key element in fat deposition.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiographic effect of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) in pars repair of lumbar spondylolysis.
Summary Of Background Data: BMP-2 is a growth factor that plays a role in the formation of bone and promotes bone healing.
Background: When symptomatic spondylolysis fail to respond to nonoperative treatment, surgical management may be required. A number of techniques have been described for repair by intrasegmental fixation with good results; however, there are still some problems. We reported a repair technique with temporary intersegmental pedicle screw fixation and autogenous iliac crest graft.

However, long-term outcomes of Dynesys for lumbar spinal stenosis are rarely reported. The aim of this study was to analyze the long-term clinical and radiologic outcomes for patients with lumbar spinal stenosis treated with Dynesys stabilization.

Each posterior technique has its own advantages and disadvantages. In the present study, we compared the functional and radiological outcomes of expansive hemilaminectomy and laminoplasty with mini titanium plate in the treatment of multilevel CSM.

Materials And Methods: Immunocytochemistry assay was performed to detect the expression of EGFR in SGC7901 cell lines. The cytotoxicity activity of CIK cells combined with EGFR mAb was analyzed by the (51)Cr release assay.
Background: Injectable three-dimensional (3D) scaffolds have the advantages of fluidity and moldability to fill irregular-shaped defects, simple incorporation of bioactive factors, and limited surgical invasiveness. Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) are multipotent and can be differentiated toward nucleus pulposus (NP)-like cells. A hypoxic environment may be important for differentiation to NP-like cells because the intervertebral disc is an avascular tissue.

Objectives: To suggest the clinical classification of the far-lateral lumbar disc herniation and offer the considerations for clinical choice of different surgical procedures.
Methods: According to the locations of the herniated disc and relevant clinical symptoms, the far-lateral lumbar disc herniation was divided into three types: Type I: posterolateral and foraminal herniation(double herniations); Type II: foraminal disc herniation and Type III: extraforaminal herniation. From January 2002 to January 2007, 38 patients with far lateral lumbar disc herniation underwent surgery in the institute.
