Article Synopsis
  • Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a severe and progressive brain condition that leads to cognitive decline and personality changes, significantly impacting patients, families, and society.
  • The study uses advanced imaging genetics to analyze brain structure and function, employing an algorithm that fuses diagnostic information from different data sources to identify correlations related to AD.
  • The findings highlight specific brain regions impacted by genetic factors linked to AD and underscore the potential diagnostic value of these regions and their associated risk genes.

Rice panicles, a major component of yield, are regulated by phytohormones and nutrients. How mineral nutrients promote panicle architecture remains largely unknown. Here, we report that NIN-LIKE PROTEIN3 and 4 (OsNLP3/4) are crucial positive regulators of rice panicle architecture in response to nitrogen (N).

Crop yield plays a critical role in global food security. For optimal plant growth and maximal crop yields, nutrients must be balanced. However, the potential significance of balanced nitrogen-iron (N-Fe) for improving crop yield and nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) has not previously been addressed.

Lateral roots (LRs) are crucial for plants to sense environmental signals in addition to water and nutrient absorption. Auxin is key for LR formation, but the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. Here, we report that Arabidopsis ERF1 inhibits LR emergence by promoting local auxin accumulation with altered distribution and regulating auxin signaling.

Climate change caused by excessive carbon emission has become one of the most severe problems facing the world's ecosystems and human society. Promoting low-carbon actions is an effective means of alleviating climate problems. Gamified interactions have recently emerged as a promising and practical idea to promote low-carbon actions; however, research on the effect of gamification design on consumers' pro-environmental behavior is still at a nascent stage.

Nitrogen (N) is an essential macronutrient for crop growth and yield. Improving the N use efficiency (NUE) of crops is important to agriculture. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying NUE regulation remain largely elusive.

Nitrogen (N) is one of the key essential macronutrients that affects rice growth and yield. Inorganic N fertilizers are excessively used to boost yield and generate serious collateral environmental pollution. Therefore, improving crop N use efficiency (NUE) is highly desirable and has been a major endeavour in crop improvement.

This study investigated the efficacy of cord blood-derived cytokine-induced killer (CB-CIK) biotherapy combined with second-line chemotherapy in treating advanced solid malignancies after first-line chemotherapy failure. Forty patients with advanced solid malignancies after first-line chemotherapy failure were divided into two groups: CB-CIK cells transfusion plus second-line chemotherapy (CB-CIK+Chemotherapy) group and second-line chemotherapy alone (Chemotherapy) group. The ORR and DCR were 30% and 80% in CB-CIK + Chemotherapy group compared with 15% and 70% in Chemotherapy group (P = 0.
