Article Synopsis
  • * The study identified a circular RNA, hsa_circ_0002137, that is overexpressed in osteosarcoma tumors compared to normal tissue and is linked to disease progression.
  • * Circ_0002137 was shown to inhibit OS progression by regulating the miR-433-3p/IGF1R pathway, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target in OS treatment.

Metabolic reprogramming plays an important role in supporting tumor growth. However, little is known about the metabolic alterations that promote cancer metastasis. In this study, we identify acyl-CoA thioesterase 12 (ACOT12) as a key player in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) metastasis.

Extrahepatic bile duct cancer (EBDC) is a combined type of malignancy mainly consisting of extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and gallbladder cancer. Clinically, it is featured with latent symptoms and early metastasis, leading to a poor prognosis. Therefore, this cohort study aimed to depict the possible metastatic patterns of EBDC of diverse sub-types and evaluate the prognostic significance of diverse metastatic destinations with data from the clinical database.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the role of ADRM1, a proteasome subunit, in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and aims to develop a targeted therapy using the inhibitor RA190 to improve patient outcomes.
  • Higher levels of ADRM1 were found in ICC tissues compared to normal tissues, and patients with elevated ADRM1 levels had poorer survival rates, indicating its potential as a prognostic marker.
  • Treatment with RA190 effectively inhibited ICC cell growth and increased cell death by targeting ADRM1, suggesting it could be a promising therapeutic strategy for managing ICC.

Therapeutic intervention in neddylation pathway is an emerging area for cancer treatment. Herein, we evaluated the clinical relevance and therapeutic potential of targeting this pathway in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). Immunohistochemistry of neddylation pathway components in a cohort of 322 cases showed that E1 (NAE1 and UBA3) and E2 (UBC12) enzymes, as well as global NEDD8 conjugation, were upregulated in over 2/3 of human ICC.
