Objectives: To explore the predictive factors for non-response to intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) in children with Kawasaki disease (KD) and to establish an IVIG non-response prediction scoring model for the Sichuan region.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted by collecting clinical data from children with KD admitted to four tertiary hospitals in Sichuan Province between 2019 and 2023. Among them, 940 children responded to IVIG, while 74 children did not respond.
B-box proteins (BBX) play pivotal roles in the regulation of numerous growth and developmental processes in plants, particularly the light-mediated biosynthesis of pigments. To elucidate the role of BBX transcription factors in the anthocyanin biosynthetic pathway of Lagerstroemia indica leaves, this study identified 41 BBX genes in the L. indica genome.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLow molecular weight chondroitin sulfate (CS) has gained considerable attention for its superior bioactivity compared to native CS. In this study, the mechanisms of low molecular weight chondroitin sulfate from hybrid sturgeon cartilage (LMSCS), prepared using the HO/Vc system, on the remission of osteoarthritis (OA) were investigated both in in vitro and in vivo. A Caco-2/SW1353 co-culture cell model and a monosodium iodoacetate (MIA)-induced OA mouse model were used to validate its inhibited apoptosis, anti-inflammatory effects, and intestinal flora modulation.

Male osteoporosis remains a disease with insufficient diagnosis and treatment, and its consequences are severe, especially in older patients. The gut microbiota plays a crucial role in its occurrence and development.

Herein, PtRuFeCoNi high entropy alloys (HEAs) is synthesized and subsequently exploited electrochemically induced structural oxidation processes to construct self-reconfigurable HEAs, as an efficient alkaline HER catalyst. The optimized self-reconstructed PtRuFeCoNi HEAs with the HEAs and cobalt rutheniate interface (HEAs-CoRuO) exhibits excellent alkaline HER performance, requiring just 11.

The study explored the pathological mechanism of doxorubicin chemotherapy-induced neurotoxicity and the intervention methods of traditional Chinese medicine. BALB/c mice were selected to establish tumor-bearing mouse models by orthotopic injection of 4T1 triple-negative breast cancer cells. After randomization, the mice were treated with doxorubicin chemotherapy or doxorubicin chemotherapy + Kaixin San(KXS).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLymph node metastasis significantly affects the NSCLC patients' staging, treatment strategy, and prognosis. Studies have shown that IGF2BP3, an oncofetal protein and an m6A reader, overexpresses and correlates to lymph node metastasis and worse overall survival in histopathological studies including NSCLC, but its mechanism needs further study. This study explored IGF2BP3's function and mechanism in LUAD lymphatic metastasis using public databases, a human LUAD tissue microarray, human LUAD cells, and a lymphatic metastasis model in male BALB/c nude mice.

Viruses have evolved mechanisms to hijack mitochondrial function for their survival and proliferation. Here, we report that infection with the swine arterivirus porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), manipulates mitochondria calcium ions (Ca2+) to induce mitochondrial fission and mitophagy, thereby reprogramming cellular energy metabolism to facilitate its own replication.

Currently, there is no exploration of changes in blood cell counts derived indexes in pediatric patients, especially under 6 years old.
Purpose: To investigate the changes in blood cell counts derived indexes before and after dupilumab treatment in Chinese children with AD, the relationship with clinical scores, and the potential role of these indexes on treatment efficacy.
W-Mo-V high-speed steel (HSS) is a high-alloy high-carbon steel with a high content of carbon, tungsten, chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium components. This type of high-speed steel has excellent red hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. In this study, the alloying element ratios were adjusted based on commercial HSS powders.

Their structures were identified by spectroscopic analysis, including 1D and 2D nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HRESIMS), and by comparison with the literature. Anti-inflammatory activity of the isolates was evaluated using the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulated RAW 264.

Currently, the whole genomic data for red deer are very limited. Qingyuan Wapiti (QYW), China's first breed of red deer by artificial breeding, is well known for its high yield of antlers and large body size.

Recently in Nature, Chen-Liaw et al. propose that strain richness is a crucial element in the gut ecosystem, thus influencing efficacy of fecal microbiota transplantation, and provide a theoretical foundation for optimizing microbiota-based treatments and developing microbiota medicine.

Within these immune cells, copper modulates oxidative stress responses and signaling pathways, enhancing macrophage immune functions and facilitating clearance. Conversely, copper may promote escape from macrophages through various mechanisms: inhibiting macrophage activity, diminishing phagocytic and bactericidal capacities, and supporting survival and proliferation.

Aims: The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a topical salicylic acid/piroctone olamine/zinc salt of L-pyrrolidone carboxylate (Zinc PCA) scalp pre-application gel in combination with a salicylic acid/piroctone olamine/antimicrobial peptide cleansing lotion for the treatment of moderate to severe scalp SD.
Patients/methods: In this prospective cohort study, 20 patients with moderate to severe scalp SD were treated with a combination of the scalp pre-application gel and cleansing lotion for 4 weeks (one tube of the pre-application gel per week and the cleansing lotion used every 1-3 days depending on the frequency of hair washing).
Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy of the minimally invasive lateral shoulder approach and deltopectoral space approach in the treatment of proximal humerus fractures.
Methods: The clinical data of 95 patients with proximal humerus fractures admitted to the hospital from June 2018 to June 2023 were retrospectively collected. Forty-four patients were treated with a minimally invasive lateral shoulder approach (study group), and 51 patients were treated with a deltopectoral space approach (control group).
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a powerful antioxidant. However, the poor water solubility and low bioavailability still remain challenges for its application. An embedded delivery system of CoQ10 based on whey protein concentrate (WPC) and polymerized whey protein concentrate (PWPC) was prepared, and the physicochemical properties, antioxidant capacity and bioavailability were characterized in this study.

Unfortunately, most graph convolutional network-based multi-view learning methods fail to capture long-range dependencies due to the over-smoothing problem. Many studies have attempted to mitigate this issue by decoupling graph convolution operations.
