Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Jieduquyuziyin prescription (JP) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula. According to both TCM theory and more than a decade of clinical practice, JP has been testified to be effective for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) treatment as an approved hospital prescription in China.

Aim Of The Study: To determine the effect of JP on the treatment of SLE by glucocorticoid (GC) and to further examine the molecular mechanisms.

Recurrent herpes labialis (RHL) is a common skin disease that is often caused by herpes simplex virus type I (HSV-1), but its immunology and pathogenesis remain unclear. The balance of Th17/Treg cells is crucial for maintaining immune homeostasis. This study aimed to investigate whether the balance of Th17/Treg cells and related cytokines may be a determinant occurrence in patients with RHL.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a refractory autoimmune disease. (ZDW) has frequently been used for treating SLE in China and been proved to have a prominent role in decreasing SLE patients' morality rate. However, the active substances in ZDW and the molecular mechanisms of ZDW in SLE remain unclear.

Objective To observe the effect of Modified Leweiyin Recipe (MLR) on nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) and crosstalk between signal transducers and activators of transcription 3 (STAT3) in SGC-7901 human gastric cancer cells. Methods SGC-7901 human gastric cancer cell strain was taken as subjects. The vectors of NF-κB (ReIA/p65)-PECFP and STAT3-PEYFP were constructed and transfected in SGC-7901 human gastric cancer cells.

Cytokine or growth factor activated STAT3 undergoes multiple post-translational modifications, dimerization and translocation into nuclei, where it binds to serum-inducible element (SIE, 'TTC(N3)GAA')-bearing promoters to activate transcription. The STAT3 DNA binding domain (DBD, 320-494) mutation in hyper immunoglobulin E syndrome (HIES), called the HIES mutation (R382Q, R382W or V463Δ), which elevates IgE synthesis, inhibits SIE binding activity and sensitizes genes such as TNF-α for expression. However, the mechanism by which the HIES mutation sensitizes STAT3 in gene induction remains elusive.

Objective: To explore efficacy enhancing and detoxification roles of Jiedu Quyu Zishen Recipe (JQZR) in treating systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) by studying its effect on Toll like receptor 9 (TLR9) signal pathway of murine macrophage cells after JQZR stimulated CpG oligodeoxynucletide (CpG ODN).

Methods: Murine macrophage cells in vitro cultured were randomly divided into 4 groups, i.e.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic inflammatory disease mainly characterized by B cell hyperactivity. Glucocorticoid (GC) is widely used in SLE for its potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. Despite its important clinical efficacy, high-dose or long-term use of GC can cause severe side effects, such as osteoporosis, osteonecrosis, cataracts, hyperglycemia, coronary heart disease and cognitive impairment.

Glucocorticoid (GC) plays an important role in anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic effects and immunosuppression, and has become a widely used drug in clinical departments. However, GC also produces a number of serious side effects at the same time. After GC acting on human body, the syndrome change has some regular pattern and it can be treated on the basis of syndrome differentiation and stage to aim at further improving therapeutic efficacy.
