Good foot care knowledge and behaviour are very important to prevent the occurrence of diabetic foot, but there are few reports on the foot care knowledge and behaviour of older people with diabetes in the community. The purpose of this study was to understand the foot care knowledge and behaviour of older people with type 2 diabetes in Beijing community, and analyse its influencing factors, so as to provide reference for further intervention. We investigated 254 older people with type 2 diabetes in Xinjiekou community, Beijing, including their general information, chronic complications, foot care knowledge and behaviour.

Domestic e-retailers acknowledge logistics service quality (LSQ) as a critical success factor in business excellence. However, exponential growth in cross-border e-commerce (CBEC) requires a re-evaluation of the relationship between LSQ and consumers repurchase intention. By integrating the technology acceptance model, this study investigates the impact of LSQ on repurchase intention based on the LSQ (experience)-satisfaction-repurchase intention consequence chain.

Pickering emulsions have attracted much attention as a novel emulsifying technology. This research to explore Zein-Citrus pectin nanoparticles stabilized cinnamon essential oil (CEO) Pickering emulsion (ZCCPEs) for constructing Pickering emulsion edible film (PEF). Unlike traditional research, which focuses on antibacterial and antioxidant activities, our research examined the physical properties of PEF, specifically changes in wettability.

The binding capacity of β-Lactoglobulin (BLG) is crucial for delivering polyphenols, influenced by structural changes. High pressure processing (HPP) has the potential to modify BLG's structure and aggregation, but its specific impact on BLG-polyphenol interactions is uncertain. This study used circular dichroism spectroscopy and molecular dynamics simulations to reveal HPP-induced structural changes in BLG, supported by particle size analysis indicating aggregation.

Article Synopsis
  • Cisplatin can cause serious kidney problems and lead to more deaths, and scientists found a link between this kidney damage and a type of cell death called ferroptosis.
  • Myricitrin, a natural compound from plants, may help protect kidney cells from damage caused by cisplatin by stopping ferroptosis from happening.
  • Experiments showed that myricitrin helped kidney cells stay alive, reduced harmful substances, and improved important proteins, but its protective effects could be lessened with a specific substance called rapamycin.

Background: For patients with stage III epithelial ovarian cancer, there are limited studies on the effects of postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy (RT). Here we assessed the therapeutic efficacy and toxicity of postoperative radiotherapy to the abdominal and pelvic lymphatic drainage area for stage III epithelial ovarian cancer patients, who had all received surgery and chemotherapy (CT).

Methods: We retrospectively collected patients with stage III epithelial ovarian cancer after cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and full-course adjuvant CT.

Umami peptides are known for enhancing the taste experience by binding to oral umami T1R1 and T1R3 receptors. Among them, small peptides (composed of 2-4 amino acids) constitute nearly 40% of reported umami peptides. Given the diversity in amino acids and peptide sequences, umami small peptides possess tremendous untapped potential.

The formation of mass customization competencies is crucial for the increasing number of manufacturing companies in modern times. This study assessed the relationship between mass customization capability and its determinants on sustainable performance. Additionally, it explores the mediating role of mass customization capability and sustainable performance, while also examining the moderating effects of firm size and cross-border eCommerce in these associations.

We investigated the contamination of the operator and the surrounding environment during wound debridement through simulated operations using fluorescent labelling. On-site simulated operation assessment was performed before and after the training. Oranges and square towels were used to simulate wounds and the inpatient units, respectively.

Objective: Diabetic nephropathy (DN) represents the principal cause of end-stage renal diseases worldwide, lacking effective therapies. Fatty acid (FA) serves as the primary energy source in the kidney and its dysregulation is frequently observed in DN. Nevertheless, the roles of FA metabolism in the occurrence and progression of DN have not been fully elucidated.

Introduction: Oxidative stress is one of the major contributors to acute alcoholic liver injury (AALI), which is a common alcoholic liver disease. Quercetin and catechin are flavonoid antioxidants present in plant foods and possess chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic activities. Quercetin and catechin are often included in the same meal and ingested together.

Disulfidptosis, a recently identified mode of cellular demise marked by excess SLC7A11-reliant cystine, has been proved to affect the development and resilience of tumor cells through the production of glutathione from cystine. Glutathione synthesis plays a crucial role in chemotherapy resistance and the survival of liver cancer cells. Thus, understanding the relationship between disulfidptosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is imperative.

Objectives: Our study was to evaluate the effect of Qishen Yiqi Dropping Pills(QSYQ) on the prognosis of chronic ischemic heart failure(CIHF) and its safety.

Methods: Databases including CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, CBM, PubMed, Web of Science, The Cochrane Library and EMbase were searched from their inception to April 2023 to screen relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Primary indicators included readmission rates, rates of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), and all-cause mortality rates.

Purpose: Methyltransferase like 1 (METTL1) regulates epitranscriptomes via the m7G modification in mammalian mRNA and microRNA. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is caused by abnormal immune reactivity and has diverse clinical manifestations. RNA methylation as a mechanism to regulate gene expression is widely implicated in immune regulation.

Purpose: Fruits have been identified as the primary triggers of anaphylaxis in older children in the Chinese population, especially among individuals with pollen sensitization. To date, no allergies have been reported after blueberry ingestion in the Chinese population.

Case Report: A 12-year-old girl experienced one episode of anaphylaxis within 30 minutes of having breakfast (including milk, egg, wheat bread, and blueberry) while walking to school.

A high-performance optical sensor with a vertical cavity structure comprising high-contrast gratings (HCGs) and a distributed Bragg reflector was designed. The structure has two peaks with different mechanisms, among which the first peak is formed by breaking the symmetry of the structure and coupling between the incident wave and the symmetric protection mode. The joint action of the HCG resonance and Fabry-Perot resonance formed a second peak.

Aim: To identify subtypes of competence in managing workplace violence (WPV) among nursing interns and to assess between-group differences.

Background: Nursing interns are reported to be a vulnerable population for experiencing workplace violence during their clinical placement. Although WPV could have a negative impact on nursing interns' health and attitudes towards the nursing profession, little is known about nursing interns' competence in workplace violence management or its influencing factors.

Anti-phospholipid autoantibodies are a group of antibodies that can specifically bind to anionic phospholipids and phospholipid protein complexes. Recent studies have reported elevated serum anti-phospholipid autoantibody levels in patients with antiphospholipid syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, metabolic disorders, malaria, SARS-CoV-2 infection, obstetric diseases and cardiovascular diseases. However, the underlying mechanisms of anti-phospholipid autoantibodies in disease pathogenesis remain largely unclear.

Neural networks with branched architectures, namely, tree-structured models, have been employed to jointly tackle multiple vision tasks in the context of multitask learning (MTL). Such tree-structured networks typically start with a number of shared layers, after which different tasks branch out into their own sequence of layers. Hence, the major challenge is to determine where to branch out for each task given a backbone model to optimize for both task accuracy and computation efficiency.
