Application of Hydrophilic Polymers to the Preparation of Prolonged-Release Minitablets with Bromhexine Hydrochloride and Bisoprolol Fumarate.

Minitablets have been extensively studied in recent years as a convenient pediatric form because they allow successful administration even in very young children. Their advantages include easy dose adjustment by multiplication of single units as well as the possibility of drug release modification by coating or forming matrix systems. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the possibility of the formulation of prolonged-release minitablets with bromhexine hydrochloride (BHX) and bisoprolol fumarate (BFM) dedicated to pediatric patients.

Treatment of low bone density in young people with cystic fibrosis: a multicentre, prospective, open-label observational study of calcium and calcifediol followed by a randomised placebo-controlled trial of alendronate.

Background: Long-term complications of cystic fibrosis include osteoporosis and fragility fractures, but few data are available about effective treatment strategies, especially in young patients. We investigated treatment of low bone mineral density in children, adolescents, and young adults with cystic fibrosis.

Methods: We did a multicentre trial in two phases.

Spondylodiscitis after bilateral sequential lung transplantation in a patient with cystic fibrosis.

We report the case of a 24-year-old woman with cystic fibrosis in whom spondylodiscitis developed after bilateral sequential transplantation. The diagnostic work-up included magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography-guided disk biopsy, histological examination, and cultures of disk specimens. The infective organism was D group Streptococcus and the patient was successfully treated with intravenous piperacillin followed by oral ampicillin.

Structure-property relationships of a tetrapyrrolidinyl PNP-lariat ether and its complexes with potassium, sodium, and silver cations.

Spectral properties of the tetrapyrrolidinyl PNP-lariat ether, L, and its complexes with K+, Na+, and Ag+ were investigated. Crystal structures of L and its complex with potassium iodide [KL]I were determined. Protonation constants of the ligand and formation constants of its complexes with Ag+, K+, and Na+ in aqueous solutions were determined.
