In recent years, there has been a lack of information in the literature regarding the extrusion and connection of closed profiles from oxygen-free copper in bridge dies. Available studies contain information on the processes of extrusion and connection of profiles from aluminium alloys and various types of steel. However, there is a lack of detailed data on the values of technological parameters for which copper is joined in the extrusion process.

Model discontinuities, specifically those of the metallurgical void type, were placed in various local zones of the modelled feedstock to check the influence of their location on their welding. The numerical modelling was carried out using the ForgeNxT2.

Research on the influence of thermal and deformation parameters of elongation operations on the rheological behavior of a Zr-1% Nb alloy was conducted using the Gleeble 3800 metallurgical process simulator. Modeling of the influence of thermal-mechanical parameters of hot elongation operations in combinations of rhombic and flat anvils on the closure of metallurgical discontinuities was performed with the help of the FORGENxT 2.

Numerical modeling was carried out using the ForgeNxT 2.1 program based on the finite element method and laboratory modeling in order to bring about the closure of defects of metallurgical origin in deformed forging ingots.

The analysis of the hydrostatic pressure distribution and the deformation intensity was carried out. It is one of the elements used for determining the assumptions for the technology of forging to obtain a semi-finished product from the AZ91 alloy with good strength properties.

The paper presents the results of numerical modelling of the forging process of magnesium alloy ingots on a hydraulic press with the use of flat and shaped anvils. The use of shaped () anvils will affect the uniform distribution of temperature and strain intensity in the entire volume of the forging, causing a number of forging passes, which in consequence will reduce the costs of the blank manufacturing process. However, higher values of the strain intensity were obtained during the deformation of the material in flat anvils.
