Background: In environmental health research, sex and gender are not yet adequately considered. There is a need to improve data collection in population-based environmental health studies by comprehensively surveying sex/gender-related aspects according to gender theoretical concepts. Thus, within the joint project INGER we developed a multidimensional sex/gender concept which we aimed to operationalize and to test the operationalization for feasibility.

Using the INGER sex/gender concept as theoretical background, we analyzed differences in exposure to lysmeral, a compound commonly found as a fragrance in cosmetics, personal care, and household products, in 2294 children and adolescents in Germany using decision tree, regression, and mediation analysis. The variables "sex assigned at birth" and "age", as well as well as use of personal care products and fabric conditioner proved to have the highest explanatory value.

Purpose: To describe the causes of ectopia lentis (EL) and the outcomes after surgery in a Danish population.
Setting: The Eye Clinic Rigshospitalet and Kennedy Center in Copenhagen.
Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Background: Ophthalmic complications are profound in Marfan syndrome (MFS). However, the overall burden is not well described. Our purpose was to evaluate the ocular morbidity in a nationwide perspective.

Over a life span, many patients with Marfan syndrome will need treatment; however, the musculoskeletal morbidity over a life span is not well described. The aim of the present study was to assess the overall burden of musculoskeletal disease in patients with Marfan syndrome.

If the service was adopted and used over time, it was expected to provide educational benefits and improve clinical outcomes during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), which is a technically advanced procedure for biliary and pancreatic disease. However, it is known that seemingly successful innovations can play out differently in new settings, which might cause variability in clinical outcomes.

There is a growing awareness about the need to comprehensively integrate sex and gender into health research in order to enhance the validity and significance of research results. An in-depth consideration of differential exposures and vulnerability is lacking, especially within environmental risk assessment. Thus, the interdisciplinary team of the collaborative research project INGER (integrating gender into environmental health research) aimed to develop a multidimensional sex/gender concept as a theoretically grounded starting point for the operationalization of sex and gender in quantitative (environmental) health research.

We will use the PICOC-Strategy (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, Context) suggested by Petticrew et al. to frame our research questions.

When the service was to be scaled up, it was unclear how contextual variations among different clinical sites could affect the clinical outcomes and implementation of the service. It is generally recognized that contextual factors and work system complexities affect the implementation and outcomes of telemedicine.

Methods: A registry-based population study of patients with a Ghent II verified MFS diagnosis.
In the last decade, Bayesian networks (BNs) have been widely used in engineering risk assessment due to the benefits that they provide over other methods. Among these, the most significant is the ability to model systems, causal factors, and their dependencies in a probabilistic manner. This capability has enabled the community to do causal reasoning through associations, which answers questions such as: "How does new evidence about the occurrence of event change my belief about the occurrence of event ?" Associative reasoning has helped risk analysts to identify relevant risk-contributing factors and perform scenario analysis by evidence propagation.

The objective was to demonstrate the consequences on maternal health, in women with diagnosed and undiagnosed MFS at the time of pregnancy and childbirth. By using national health care registries, we identified all pregnancy related outcomes, from women with MFS (n = 183) and an age-matched background population (n = 18,300).

Design: Prospective observational study.
Setting: University hospital.
Uterus transplantation has proved to be a feasible treatment for uterine factor infertility. Herein, we report on recipient outcome in the robotic uterus transplantation trial of 2017-2019. The eight recipients had congenital uterine aplasia.

Studies have shown that patients with MFS have lower bone mass, but little is known about the other constituents of bone strength. We hypothesize that patients with MFS will have larger bone area and compromised cortical microarchitecture compared with non-MFS individuals.

Introduction: The proof-of-concept of uterus transplantation, as a treatment for absolute uterine factor infertility, came with the first live birth after uterus transplantation, which took place in Sweden in 2014. This was after a live donor procedure, with laparotomy in both donor and recipient. In our second, ongoing trial we introduced a robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery of the donor to develop minimal invasive surgery for this procedure.

Probabilities and consequences of complications after ERCP performed by either a novice-trainee or supported through teleguidance (TM) by an expert formed the basis of the health economic model. The main clinical and economic outcomes originated from the base case scenario representing a low-volume center.

Testosterone treatment of hypogonadal patients decrease fat mass, increase lean body mass and improve insulin sensitivity, but whether this extends to patients with KS is presently unknown.
Research Design And Methods: In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, BMI-matched cross-over study, 13 males with KS (age: 34.

Background: Video visits with patients were introduced into outpatient care at a hospital in Sweden. New behaviors and tasks emerged due to changes in roles, work processes, and responsibilities. This study investigates the effects of the digital transformation-in this case, how video visits in outpatient care change work processes and introduce new tasks-to further improve the concept of video visits.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA bicuspid aortic valve is not only a common congenital heart defect but also an enigmatic condition that can cause a large spectrum of diseases, such as aortic valve stenosis and severe heart failure in newborns whereas aortic dissection in adults. On the contrary, a bicuspid aortic valve can also occur with normal function throughout life and never need treatment. Numerous genetic mechanisms are involved in the abnormal cellular functions that may cause abnormal development of the aortic valve during early foetal life.
