The aim of this study is to investigate the prognostic role of body mass index (BMI) on survival from head and neck cancer (HNC). We performed a pooled analysis of studies included in the International Head and Neck Cancer Epidemiology consortium. We used Cox proportional hazards models to estimate the adjusted hazard ratios (HR) for overall survival and HNC-specific survival, and we stratified the results according to cancer site.

New species and new records of Brueelia Kéler, 1936 (Phthiraptera: Ischnocera) from South Africa.

Three species of the genus Brueelia Kéler, 1936 are reported from South Africa for the first time: Brueelia cyclothorax (Burmeister, 1838) ex Passer domesticus (Linnaeus, 1758), Brueelia queleae Sychra & Barlev [in Sychra et al.], 2010a ex Quelea quelea lathami (Smith, 1836), and Brueelia coryliventer Gustafsson & Bush, 2015, ex Creatophora cinerea (Meuschen, 1787). COSPECIATION PATTERNS OF TWO GROUPS OF CHEWING LICE (INSECTA: PHTHIRAPTERA: ISCHNOCERA AND AMBLYCERA) INFESTING ASIAN SONGBIRDS (AVES: PASSERIFORMES).

Cospeciation has been observed multiple times between parasites and their hosts. Here we compare the phylogeny of 2 different groups of chewing lice (Phthiraptera), one known for being host specific (Amblycera: Myrsidea) and one known for including many generalist species (Ischnocera: Brueelia-complex, specifically Guimaraesiella and Priceiella) with that of their songbird hosts (Passeriformes), which are participants in mixed-species feeding flocks in South China. Using event- (Jane) and distance-based (ParaFit) analyses we found that both groups of lice have phylogenies that are more similar than by chance to those of their hosts.

Cognitive and non-cognitive factors affecting decision-making about deceased organ donation in Italy: a systematic review.

Introduction: Decision-making about organ donation (OD) is influenced by interrelated cognitive and non-cognitive factors. The identification of these factors in the general population and among healthcare professionals (HCP) in Italy are key ethical and scientific requirements to inform targeted communication and policy-making interventions, and to promote decision-making processes that are truly informed.

Evidence Acquisition: A systematic review of articles published between January 1, 1999, and January 31, 2024 was performed by searching four databases using these terms: "organ donation" AND (attitude OR opinion OR knowledge OR awareness OR intention OR beliefs OR norms OR perception) AND (Italy OR Italian).

Prenatal Diagnosis of Umbilical Cord Angiomyxoma: Case Studies and Literature Review of 45 Cases.

We describe two cases of umbilical cord (UC) angiomyxoma diagnosed prenatally by sonography in the second trimester of pregnancy. In both cases, a complex mass was detected at the placental insertion site, characterized by an echoic nodule surrounding the umbilical vessels and distal edematous Wharton's jelly. Follow-up scans showed that the mass grew mainly at the expense of its edematous component, with normal uteroplacental Dopplers throughout the remaining of the pregnancy.

Insights into the reactivity of the enzyme can be obtained by quantitatively modeling such responses. As a consequence, the more the technique allows flexibility in changing conditions, the more useful it becomes.

Purpose: In light of the growing concern over the possible link between SARS-CoV2 infection and autoimmune diseases, we conducted a review to investigate the impact of the pandemic outbreak on thyroid diseases.

Methods: We carried out a narrative review of all pediatric cases described in the literature, mainly focusing on the possible association of COVID-19 with the incidence of autoimmune and post-infective thyroid diseases (namely Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (HT), Grave's Disease (GD) and Sub-Acute Thyroiditis (SAT)). We also felt it was necessary to provide a brief review of Non-thyroidal Illness Syndrome (NTIS) and Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) because of their overlap with thyroiditis.

Purpose: Transition from pediatric to adult care is associated with significant challenges in patients with Turner syndrome (TS). The objective of the TRansition Age Management In Turner syndrome in Italy (TRAMITI) project was to improve the care provided to patients with TS by harnessing the knowledge and expertise of various Italian centers through a Delphi-like consensus process.

Methods: A panel of 15 physicians and 1 psychologist discussed 4 key domains: transition and referral, sexual and bone health and oncological risks, social and psychological aspects and systemic and metabolic disorders.
