Purpose: The use of surgeon-modified fenestrated endograft to treat a bleeding complication in the common iliac artery.
Technique: An Endurant limb graft was modified on back table in theater after planning the fenestration using a semi-automated centerline. The Endurant stent was planned to land flush at the aortic bifurcation.
Objective: Outcome registries in vascular surgery are increasingly used to drive quality improvement by vascular societies. The VASCUNET collaboration, within the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS), and the International Consortium of Vascular Registries (ICVR) developed a set of variables for quality improvement registries on abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair as a registry standard.
Methods: Representatives from international vascular registries within VASCUNET, ICVR, and other nations with established registries were invited to provide the variables.

Objective: Data validity and completeness are essential for registry data, and a meaningful interpretation of differences between countries can only be made if the data are robust within each of the countries. Therefore, the VASCUNET collaboration has performed validation of several vascular registries and so far published the validation results of national vascular registries of Sweden, Denmark, and Malta. The findings of the validation of the Swissvasc Registry, the vascular registry of Switzerland, are presented here.

Objective: Technology and advances in clinical care have changed the management of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) but the clinical effectiveness of continuing advances needs to be assessed. To facilitate rapid synthesis of new evidence and improve stakeholder representation, including patients, the concept of core outcome sets (COS) has been developed. COS, reflecting the needs of all stakeholders, have been established across several surgical specialties.

Background: In situ laser fenestration (ISLF) is a novel endovascular technique which allows customization of a standard stent graft to a patient's anatomy. While most reported cases involve revascularization of the left subclavian artery (LSA), some centers have now reported their initial experience treating branches of the visceral aorta for aortic aneurysms. The aim of this study is to examine the adoption of ISLF in emergent aortic pathology at a specialized aortic center.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to present a new technique for fenestrated endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (FEVAR) and to review its preliminary results. The SiMplified bARe-wire Target vessel (SMART) technique for FEVAR aims to simplify the procedure by avoiding guiding sheaths into visceral arteries during the main graft deployment.
Materials And Methods: The SMART technique requires a 12 to 16Fr contralateral introducer, depending on number of fenestrations-compared with standard 18 to 22Fr for 3 to 4 FEVAR-to achieve target vessel catheterization and stenting during FEVAR by avoiding the use of parallel 6 to 7Fr guiding sheaths into each visceral vessel.
Purpose: In situ laser fenestration (ISLF) is a recently introduced technology that offers the potential to perform total endovascular treatment of aortic arch and thoracoabdominal aortic pathologies in the acute setting. This experiment's aim was to assess ISLF in some currently common aortic endografts and bridging stent-grafts.
Materials And Methods: Three different aortic endografts were evaluated: (1) Zenith Alpha, (2) Zenith TX2, and (3) Conformable GORE TAG.
Microstimulation via electrodes that penetrate the visual cortex creates visual perceptions called phosphenes. Besides providing electrical stimulation to induce perceptions, each electrode can be used to record the brain signals from the cortex region under the electrode which contains brain state information. Since the future visual prosthesis interfaces will be implanted chronically in the visual cortex of blind people, it is important to study the long-term stability of the signals acquired from the electrodes.

Introduction: Malta is a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean with a population of 514,564 inhabitants and is served by one public tertiary hospital, Mater Dei Hospital. The Vascular unit was set up in 2007. The aim of this review is to analyse the work related to peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) in Malta with an in-depth focus on amputations and revascularisation procedures since the introduction of the Vascular unit.

We present the most comprehensive database on area-based marine conservation in China including 326 sites that conserve 12.98% of China’s seas and address 142 conservation objectives.

However, no clinically available cortical visual prosthesis yet exists.METHODSWe implanted an intracortical microelectrode array consisting of 96 electrodes in the visual cortex of a 57-year-old person with complete blindness for a 6-month period.

But little is known about the true frequency of DVT in patients who attend emergency department (ED) and are diagnosed with COVID-19.
Objective: We investigated the incidence, risk factors, clinical characteristics and outcomes of DVT in patients with COVID-19 attending the ED before hospitalization.
Objective: The aim of this study was to determine sex specific differences in the invasive treatment of symptomatic peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) between member states participating in the VASCUNET and International Consortium of Vascular Registries.
Methods: Data on open surgical revascularisation and peripheral vascular intervention (PVI) of symptomatic PAOD from 2010 to 2017 were collected from population based administrative and registry data from 11 countries. Differences in age, sex, indication, and invasive treatment modality were analysed.

Methods: Sixty premenopausal women (BMI of 40.4 ± 6.
Objective: This study aimed to analyse the mean abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) diameter for repair in nine countries, and to determine variation in mean AAA diameter for elective AAA repair and its relationship to rupture AAA repair rates and aneurysm related mortality in corresponding populations.
Methods: Data on intact (iAAA) and ruptured infrarenal AAA (rAAA) repair for the years 2010-2012 were collected from Denmark, England, Finland, Germany, Hungary, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and the USA. The rate of iAAA repair and rAAA per 100 000 inhabitants above 59 years old, mean AAA diameter for iAAA repair and rAAA repair, and the national rates of rAAA were assessed.
The management of infection involving the abdominal aorta requires clinical decisions based on patient factors and the nature of the infectious process. Any infection occurring after endovascular aortic aneurysm repair or open aortic replacement grafting should be treated promptly with appropriate systemic antibiotic therapy. Once a vascular prosthesis becomes infected, surgical treatment is necessary.

GJA1 gene encodes a polytopic connexin membrane protein, Cx43, that is a component of connexon membrane channels.
Methods: We describe two unrelated female probands referred for a genetic review in view of a dysmorphic clinical phenotype.
