We present a 29-year-old man admitted to our hospital with fatigue for two months of duration and recent palpitations, lightheadedness, blurred vision and nausea. B12 and folate levels were normal.

This study assessed attitudes toward patient-centred care, empathy, assertiveness, and subjective perception of communication skills and technical knowledge among Portuguese undergraduate students in healthcare. Using virtual reality to prepare patients for radiotherapy: A systematic review of interventional studies with educational sessions.

Purpose: To understand the impact of radiotherapy educational sessions with virtual reality on oncologic adult patients' psychological and cognitive outcomes related to the treatment experience.

Methods: This review was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews guidelines. A systematic electronic search in three databases, MEDLINE, Scopus, and Web of Science, was conducted in December 2021 to find interventional studies with adult patients undergoing external radiotherapy who received an educational session with virtual reality before or during the treatment.

Acquired haemophilia A associated to autoimmune thyroiditis and pangastritis.

Acquired haemophilia A is a rare condition defined by the presence of coagulation inhibitors, which are autoantibodies directed against factor VIII that interfere with its activity. We report a case of a 69-year-old woman that presented with knee haemarthrosis followed by spontaneous retroperitoneal haematoma. On coagulation studies, she presented normal prothrombin time with prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time non-correcting on mixture test, low titers of factor VIII and was detected factor VIII inhibitor that led to diagnosis of acquired haemophilia A.

Depressive symptomatology, temperament and oxytocin serum levels in a sample of healthy female university students.

Background: Depressive symptomatology is prevalent among female university students with adverse effects on their quality of life and academic performance. Previous research suggested associations between depressive symptomatology and oxytocin levels and between depressive symptomatology and Temperament Traits. Despite this evidence, to the best of our knowledge no research has studied the effects fboth oxytocin serum levels and temperament dimensions on depressivesymptoms in a healthy sample.

Introduction: Anxiety is an emotional reaction often experienced by patients who undergo Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) with 18F-2-fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose (F-FDG). This systematic review aimed to summarise the evidence currently available considering the anxiety experienced by adult oncological patients concerning pre and post F-FDG PET/CT examination and the factors contributing to anxiety.

Methods: A systematic review search of CINAHL, PsycINFO, PubMed, Scopus and Web Science databases and other manual search sources, was conducted from November to February 2021.

Epidemiological Study of Pesticide Poisoning in Domestic Animals and Wildlife in Portugal: 2014-2020.

Nowadays the intentional poisoning of domestic and wild animals is a crime in the European Union (EU), but as in the past the poison is still used in rural areas of a number of European countries to kill animals that were considered harmful for human activities. From January 2014 up until October 2020, the Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (LFT-FMV) has done the analytical detection of poisoning substances in 503 samples of wildlife and domestic animals and pesticides residues were found in 239 of the samples analyzed. In this retrospective study, toxicology results from domestic species (dog, cat, sheep, cows, and horses), wildlife species (red foxes, birds of prey, lynx, and wild boar), and food baits, are presented.

Days Needed for the Disappearance of a Cough Due to the Use of an Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitor and Identification of Predisposing Factors Associated With Its Appearance in a Clinical Cohort of Hypertensive Patients.

Our main objective was to investigate the numbers of days necessary for the disappearance of the cough caused by an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) subsequent to the discontinuation of treatment, and to identify the associated factors that contribute to the appearance of said cough and angioneurotic edema. We studied 1101 patients with hypertension treated with an ACEI for 15 years. A multivariate analysis of binary logistic regression was performed to identify predisposing cough factors.

Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae in a Portuguese hospital - a five-year retrospective study.

Background: Our hospital experienced an outbreak of OXA-48-producing Enterobacteriaceae, triggering this study. We aimed to describe the population with carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE) in our hospital from 2014 to 2018, the phenotypic and genotypic characteristics of isolates, and strategies to stop the outbreak.

Cancer Patient Experience in a Nuclear Medicine Department: Comparison Between Bone Scintigraphy and F-FDG PET/CT.

Our objective was to assess the anxiety level in cancer patients undergoing nuclear medicine exams and to identify how professionals can improve patient experience. In total, 94 patients undergoing Tc-hydroxymethylene diphosphonate (Tc-HDP) bone scintigraphy (BS) or F-FDG PET/CT completed 2 scan-experience questionnaires and the Spielberger State Anxiety Inventory (STAI-S) before the scan and after image acquisition. Before the exam, the mean anxiety levels were higher for the Tc-HDP BS group than for the F-FDG PET/CT group.
