JCO Osimertinib has been established as a standard of care for patients with common sensitizing -mutant advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) although the sequential approach (first-generation inhibitor gefitinib followed by osimertinib) has not been formally compared. The phase II APPLE trial (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT02856893) enrolled 156 treatment-naïve patients, and two treatment strategies were evaluated: osimertinib up front or the sequential treatment approach with gefitinib up front followed by osimertinib at the time of progression, either molecular progression (detection of plasma T790M resistance mutation) regardless of the radiologic status or just at the time of radiologic progression.

Progastrin is an unprocessed soluble peptide precursor with a well-described tumor-promoting role in colorectal cancer. Background: There is now substantial evidence to support venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation efficacy and safety for patients with severe acute respiratory distress syndrome. However, recent guidelines recommend against the initiation of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in patients with mechanical ventilation for coronavirus disease 2019 severe acute respiratory distress syndrome for greater than 7-10 days.

Case Summary: We report the case of a patient with coronavirus disease 2019 severe acute respiratory distress syndrome with successful late venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation initiation after 20 days of mechanical ventilation.

The purpose of this study was to assess whether transmural bowel necrosis has distinct CT features based on the three main causes: occlusive acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI), nonocclusive AMI, and strangulated small-bowel obstruction (SBO). From January 2010 to December 2017, the records of all patients with a pathologic diagnosis of transmural bowel necrosis were extracted from the pathology department database of a university hospital. The inclusion criteria for the study were presence of transmural bowel necrosis at pathologic examination and available contrast-enhanced CT images obtained within the 24 hours before surgery.
