During senescence and ripening, higher plants degrade the green pigment chlorophyll to linear tetrapyrrols, referred to as phyllobilins (PBs). This dataset provides chromatograms and mass spectral data of PBs acquired from methanolic extracts of cv. Gala apple peels at five different shelf life (SL) stages.

Rapid Immunochromatography on Fresh Intestinal Biopsy Is Highly Accurate in Detecting Intestinal Antitransglutaminase Antibodies.

Introduction: Intestinal antitransglutaminase antibodies (I-anti-TG2) are a specific marker of celiac disease (CeD). The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of a novel application of an immunochromatographic assay referred to as Rapid_AntiTG2 to detect I-anti-TG2 on intestinal biopsy lysate.

Methods: Consecutive pediatric patients referred to a single center for elective upper endoscopy were enrolled.

Chlorophyll (Chl) degradation is an important process of fruit ripening, mediated by the pheophorbide a oxygenase/phyllobilin (PaO/PB) pathway. Chl is catabolized to linear tetrapyrrolic phyllobilins that resemble the bile pigments. Determining the optimal harvest date is of pivotal importance for the fruit industry.

Pediatric Emergency Cases in the First Year of the COVID-19 Pandemic in a Tertiary-Level Emergency Setting.

Aim: Emergency cases are uncommon events in the pediatric emergency setting. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic by describing the number and type of pediatric emergency cases that arrived at the pediatric emergency department (PED) of a tertiary-level children's hospital in Italy.

Methods: We performed a retrospective study, collecting the main features of pediatric emergency patients who arrived during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic (March 2020-February 2021) compared to the pre-pandemic period (March 2016-February 2020).

Dietary Beliefs in Children and Adolescents with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and their Parents.

Objectives: Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) may have diet-related beliefs that lead to restrictive dietary behaviours. This study aimed to evaluate dietary beliefs in young patients with IBD and their parents and the presence of restrictive behaviours.

Methods: A questionnaire regarding dietary beliefs was administered to IBD patients aged 8-17 years and their parents.

The ongoing impact of Covid-19 pandemic on children with medical complexity: the experience of an Italian pediatric palliative care network.

Background: Italy was the first European country to experience a massive outbreak of Sars-coV-2 in March 2020. Severe measures were introduced to face the pandemic, significantly impacting all healthcare services, including pediatric palliative care (PPC) networks. We investigated how the Covid-19 pandemic modified the provision of PPC services in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy.

Adolescents' pain and distress during peripheral intravenous cannulation in a paediatric emergency setting.

The objective of the study is to investigate pain and distress experienced by a group of adolescents and children during peripheral intravenous cannulation in a paediatric emergency department. This cross-sectional study was performed between November 2019 and June 2020 at the paediatric emergency department of the Institute for Maternal and Child Health of Trieste, Italy. Eligible subjects were patients between 4 and 17 years old undergoing intravenous cannulation, split into three groups based on their age: adolescents (13-17 years), older children (8-12 years), and younger children (4-7 years).

Definition and prevalence of familial short stature.

Objective: To verify the prevalence of novel definitions of familial short stature on a cross-sectional cohort of children referred for short stature when their height and that of both parents were measured.

Methods: We consecutively enrolled 65 individuals referred for short stature when both parents were present. We defined "target height-related short stature" (TH-SS) when child's height is ≤ - 2 SDS and included in the range of target height; suspected "autosomal dominant short stature" (AD-SS) when child height and at least one parent height are ≤ - 2 SDS; "constitutional familial short stature" (C-FSS) when a child with TH-SS does not have any parents with height ≤ - 2 SDS.

Rebound of Severe Alcoholic Intoxications in Adolescents and Young Adults After COVID-19 Lockdown.

Purpose: The coronavirus lockdown in Italy ended, but the postlockdown phase may be even more challenging than the outbreak itself if the impact on mental health is considered. To date, little evidence is available about the effect of lockdown release in terms of adolescent health from the perspective of an emergency department (ED).

Methods: We reviewed data on ED arrivals of adolescents and young adults (aged 13-24 years) in the weeks immediately before and after the Italian lockdown release in 2020, and in the same periods in 2019, with a focus on cases of severe alcohol abuse, psychomotor agitation, and other mental issues.

Pleuropulmonary blastoma: a report from the TREP (Tumori Rari in Età Pediatrica) Project.

Introduction: Pleuropulmonary blastoma (PPB) is a rare, aggressive mesenchymal tumor of childhood. The Italian Tumori Rari in Età Pediatrica (TREP) Registry was the first in Europe dedicated to prospective data collection on rare pediatric tumors. We analyzed data from an Italian series of patients with PPB, focusing on the role of the TREP Project.

Inequalities in diagnosis and registration of pediatric very rare tumors: a European study on pleuropulmonary blastoma.

Very rare tumors (VRTs) account for up to 11% of childhood cancers. Dedicated national groups and registries only exist in some European countries. Pleuropulmonary blastoma (PPB) is a very rare intrathoracic pediatric tumor with a potentially severe prognosis.
