The present study continued to investigate whether the effects of length misperception caused by cross-shaped (formed by two pairs of the oppositely oriented Müller-Lyer wings) contextual distractors can be explained by the combined manifestation of two different (i.e., the Müller-Lyer and filled-space) geometric illusions of extent.

Unlabelled: The aim of the study was to explore the effects of memantine on responses elicited in the frog tectum by the bursts of spikes of moderate strength of a single retina ganglion cell and to gain an insight about the effect of memantine on the L-type Ca(2+) current.
Material And Methods: The experiments were performed in vivo on adult frogs (Rana temporaria). An individual retina ganglion cell (or its retinotectal fiber) was stimulated by current pulses delivered through a multichannel stimulating electrode positioned on the retina.
Background: The primary goal of this hospital-based retrospective multicenter case series study was to determine the incidence of large bowel full-thickness injury associated with colonoscopy in Lithuania. We assessed characteristics of patients who were treated as a result of this complication; management and outcomes were the secondary goals of this study.
Methods: The medical records of patients with iatrogenic large bowel perforations resulting from colonoscopy within the period January 1, 2007, to December 31, 2011, were retrospectively reviewed.
The aim of the study was to assess the diagnostic value of gamma scintigraphy, duplex ultrasound scan, computer tomographic angiography (CTA) and renal arteriography in 77 patients with arterial hypertension, 3 with hematuria, 3 with chronic renal insufficiency and 3 with the difference in kidney size. The following kidney vascularization pathology was revealed: renal artery stenosis in 27, thrombosis of renal artery in 1, aneurysm of renal artery in 4, arteriovenous fistulae in 1, anomalies of renal arteries in 12, atherosclerotic deterioration of accessorial renal arteries in 13, tumor of suprarenal gland with arterial stenosis in 2 patients. Gamma scintigraphy and duplex ultrasound scan were positive in detecting vascular pathology in 93.

Although functional differentiation of these neurons is central to formation of lingual sensory circuits, there is little known about electrophysiological properties of developing trigeminal and geniculate ganglia or the extrinsic factors that might regulate neural development. We used whole cell recordings from embryonic day 16 rat ganglia, maintained in culture as explants for 3-10 days with neurotrophin support to characterize basic properties of trigeminal and geniculate neurons over time in vitro and in comparison to each other.

The distribution of the electronic potential was studied by the method of intracellular polarization of cardiac fibers via a suction electrode perfused from the inside with a KCl isotonic solution. The space constant of electronic decay along and across cardiac fibers in the endocardium and epicardium of rabbit right atrium was measured.

A direct correlation was established between heart rate, pulmonary artery systolic pressure and concentrations of cyclic adenosine monophosphate. Basing on this finding, the authors propose introduction of beta-adrenoblockers in hyperkinetic circulation tuberculous patients to prevent cor pulmonale.
