Dietary fibre (DF) has multiple health benefits and wheat grains are major sources of DF for human health. However, DF is depleted in white wheat flour which is more widely consumed than wholegrain. The major DF component in white flour is the cell wall polysaccharide arabinoxylan (AX).

In today's day in age where patients and clinicians are looking to decrease length of stay and desire to take total knee replacement to the ambulatory surgery setting, appropriate and safe analgesia is paramount. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the analgesic efficacy of implementing a single shot adductor canal block (ACB) protocol in patients undergoing primary TKA by a single surgeon already using a multimodal analgesia protocol at a high volume community hospital.

We combined two previously efficacious programs and used a design thinking framework to optimise program content alongside potential end-users including adolescent boys, teachers, parents, and experts. Goodform is a four-session universal program that aims to reduce body dissatisfaction and prevent the use of muscle-building supplements among 14-to-16 year old adolescent boys.

In rapidly progressing, completely obstructive salivary stones, the presentation can mimic emergent oropharyngeal diseases, primarily Ludwig's angina. We present a case of a large and obstructive sialolith with abscess whose initial presentation was concerning for Ludwig's angina with impending airway compromise.

The purpose of our study is to identify risk factors for Vancouver B fractures and to establish a predictable timeline for when these occur.
Methods: We retrospectively identified patients with Vancouver B periprosthetic femoral fractures (n = 49) after 11,509 elective primary cementless THA procedures through the DAA between 2012 and 2018 at a single institution.
To incentivize private primary care utilization and reduce reliance on public healthcare services, Elderly Healthcare Voucher Scheme has been implemented to provide a voucher entitlement to entire older resident population for subsidising their purchase of unspecified primary healthcare services in the private sector. Our study assessed whether voucher usage is associated with reduced utilization of public healthcare services. We retrieved the public healthcare services utilization and voucher transaction data of a survey cohort of 551 participants, who were age eligible for the scheme since 2009, over the period 2009-2015.

Although the effects of Eps genes are often assumed to act independently of the environment, previous studies have shown that they exhibit temperature sensitivity. The number of leaves and phyllochron are considered determinants of flowering time and the numerical components of yield include spikelets per spike and fertile floret number within spikelets.

Rib domain-containing surface proteins are found associated with invasive strains and elicit protective immunity in animal models. Yet, despite their apparent importance in infection, the structure of the Rib domain was previously unknown.

Methods: All patients who underwent repair of partial or total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage (PAPVD or TAPVD) and were 18 years of age or older with a current contact number were identified from the hospital database. The mean age of the 101 patients was 26 ± 7 years (range, 18-49) old.
Objective: Prior norms of the Eating Disorders Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q) among men have not considered sexual orientation. This study's objective was to assess EDE-Q community norms among cisgender gay men.
Method: Participants were 978 self-identified cisgender gay men from The PRIDE Study recruited in 2018.
Clothes play a ubiquitous, yet under-appreciated social role. In the context of body image, clothes may both reflect and facilitate wearers' ideals and anxieties about their physical appearance. Athleisure, referring to athletic-inspired workout apparel that explicitly accentuates wearers' physiques, is a hitherto unexamined clothing trend worth tens of billions of dollars annually (and growing) in the United States consumer market alone.

Elderly Healthcare Voucher Scheme has been introduced by the Hong Kong Government since 2009 to provide subsidy to elderly aged 65 and above to visit ten different types of private primary care providers for curative, preventive and chronic disease management. Several enhancements have been made over the past few years.

The aim of this review was to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of the incidence and prevalence of insomnia and insomnia symptoms in individuals affected by stroke. We searched seven main electronic databases to identify studies until September 25, 2018.

Methods: We analyzed 852 extracapsular proximal femur fracture fixation cases. We compared fluoroscopy times by various levels of resident training, fracture type, and implant used.
Background There are limited data about cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) in adult congenital heart disease. We aimed to assess early and late outcomes of CRT among patients with adult congenital heart disease. Methods and Results We retrospectively studied 54 patients with adult congenital heart disease (median age, 46 years; range, 18-73 years; 74% men) who received CRT implantation (biventricular paced >90%) between 2004 and 2017.

Extracellular HSP is axiomatic to the survival of cells during tumorigenesis; proportional representation of specific HSP family members is indicative of invasive potential and prognosis. Further significance has been added by the knowledge that all cancer-derived exosomes have surface-exposed HSPs that reflect the membrane topology of cells that secrete them.

With increasing evidence illustrating the irreproducibility of psychological research, no research to date has systematically examined the cumulative effect of bias in research relating to the treatment of AN.
Method: We identified all AN trials listed on ClinicalTrials.
Objective: There is increasing public and scientific focus on women's pursuit of a muscular and toned appearance. However, the psychological correlates of women's drive for muscularity are currently unclear. Therefore, we examined the associations of drive for muscularity with four important negative psychological indices among women: eating disorder (ED) symptoms, and symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress.

Method: Contributions focused on three main themes among male populations: (a) the nature of eating disorder symptoms and recovery; (b) long-term outcomes following eating disorders treatment; and (c) muscularity-oriented symptoms of eating pathology.
Results: The contributions to this special issue highlight the importance of better understanding how eating disorder symptoms manifest, may be maintained, and respond to treatment among male populations.
As obligate intracellular pathogens, viruses rely on the host cell machinery to replicate efficiently, with the host metabolism extensively manipulated for this purpose. High-throughput small interfering RNA (siRNA) screens provide a systematic approach for the identification of novel host-virus interactions. Here, we report a large-scale screen for host factors important for human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), consisting of 6,881 siRNAs.

However, researchers are yet to examine whether individual differences in conformity to Western masculine norms can help to explain why men experience height dissatisfaction. Thus, we investigated conformity to Western masculine norms as a moderator of the relationship between men's height and height dissatisfaction.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFDelayed cerebral ischaemia (DCI) after aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (aSAH) is a major cause of mortality and morbidity. The pathophysiology of DCI after aSAH is thought to involve toxic mediators released from lysis of red blood cells within the subarachnoid space, including free haemoglobin and haem. Haptoglobin and hemopexin are endogenously produced acute phase proteins that are involved in the clearance of these toxic mediators.
