Real-World Social Reward Processes are Linked to Momentary Positive Affect in Adolescent Girls.

Positive peer interactions are critical for adolescent development and well-being. Showing little interest in interacting socially with peers and/or extracting little reward from positive peer interactions can be markers of social anhedonia, which impacts many youths, especially girls, with social anxiety and depressive disorders. Reduced interest or reward in peer interactions may contribute to social anxiety and depression in girls through effects on positive affect (PA), though associations between social anhedonia and momentary PA have yet to be tested.

Direct traction MR imaging of the wrist: practical experience.

Objective: To study the effect of direct wrist traction on patient pain and joint distraction on MRI.

Materials And Methods: 291 patients (109 males, 182 females; mean age, 45.8 years) who underwent wrist MRI between November 2019 and September 2024 were studied (152 patients with traction, 139 patients without traction).

Dental caries among long-term care (LTC) residents is a persistent and complex problem driven by social and structural factors. Systems thinking may be useful in considering novel approaches to reducing disease. This study aimed to develop a system dynamics model to simulate the progression of dentate older adults in LTC through caries severity states and estimate the effects of 3 intervention scenarios on the progression of caries: preventive topical fluoride (TF), arrest of caries with silver diamine fluoride (SDF), and a combination of TF and SDF.

Zinc (Zn) is an essential element that can promote proper organ function, cell growth, and immune response; it can also, however, be present in too great a quantity. Zinc toxicity caused by overexposure may result in both minor and major physiological effects, with chronic exposure at low levels and acute exposure at high levels being harmful or even toxic. This investigation examines the effects of acute exposure to relatively high concentrations of Zn on sensory nerve function and nerve conduction.

Development of a Patient-reported Outcome Measure for Patients With Ureteral Stricture Disease.

Objective: To develop a patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) using qualitative patient-centered methods and expert opinion to quantify the impact of ureteral stricture disease (USD) and its management.

Methods: Patients undergoing robotic ureteral reconstruction for USD between 9/2021-4/2023 were enrolled. A novel patient-reported outcome was developed in four steps: (1) Semistructured concept elicitation interviews to evaluate the physical, mental, and social effects of USD; (2) Item generation based on themes identified in the interview transcripts, existing patient-reported outcomes on health-related Quality of Life, and expert opinion; (3) Feedback on the generated items from a panel of external clinicians with high surgical volume for USD; and (4) Cognitive interviews assessing patient comprehension and relevance.

Phenotyping Men With Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms: Results From the Symptoms of Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction Research Network.

Aims: Men with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) represent a heterogeneous group, and treatment decisions are often based on severity of symptoms and physical examination findings. Identification of clinically meaningful subtypes could allow for more personalized care. Background: Endoscopic remission has emerged as an important treatment target in Crohn's disease (CD) and has been associated with improvement in long-term outcomes. We examined the relationship between achievement of endoscopic remission and hospitalizations using pooled 52-week Phase III risankizumab and upadacitinib maintenance trials for patients with moderate-to-severely active CD.

Methods: Included patients received maintenance therapy after achieving a clinical response following a 12-week induction with risankizumab or upadacitinib.

Unlabelled: Translation of mammalian telomeric G-rich RNA via the Repeat Associated non-AUG translation mechanism can produce two dipeptide repeat proteins: repeating valine-arginine (VR) and repeating glycine-leucine (GL). Their potentially toxic nature suggests that one or both must play a needed role in the cell. Using light microscopy combined with antibody staining we discovered that cultured human cells stain brightly for VR during mitosis with VR staining co-localizing with ribosomes.

An Iterative Approach to Usability Evaluation: A Workplace Wellness Mobile Application Example.

Without a gold standard for mobile app usability testing, this paper outlines a case study of how a not-for-profit organization tested the usability of a public-facing mobile app designed to promote the health and wellbeing of workers in Canada by offering accessible resources conveniently through one's mobile phone. Although the app was developed by a third-party vendor, usability testing and refinement was left to the organization due to budgetary and time constraints. The app underwent three rounds of iterative usability testing.

During July 2022-March 2023, we collected animal and environmental swab samples within homes of confirmed human mpox case-patients and tested for MPXV and human DNA by PCR.
