[ANSA analysis. II. Aminonaphthalenesulfonamides--detecting groups for polysubstrate analysis of proteases].

The properties and synthetic methods of aminonaphthalenesulfonamides (ANSA) used as detectable groups of protease substrates are described. A list of chemical and physical properties of seventeen 5.1-ANSA with simple substituents is presented.

[Working conditions and health status of workers engaged in the production of zinc compounds].

It was established that industrial shops engaged in zinc compounds' processing were characterized by considerable temperature shifts, relative humidity and air motion changes. In drying and packing shops, concentrations of the final product dusts were established at 0.8-2 mg/m3.

[The health status of workers engaged in the production of cobalt salts].

The professional noxae for workers engaged in production of cobalt acetate, chloride, nitrate and sulfate is dust of the final product in the form of aerosol disintegration. The main professional pathology is manifested in hypertrophic defensive processes in the upper respiratory tract, in contact dermatitis, cardiac disorders of different severity grades. Clinico-biochemical investigations revealed a clear increase of the content of urea, rest nitrogen, glucose, cholesterol and electrolytes (sodium and potassium) in the blood.

[Standard dried nutrient medium for determining microorganism sensitivity to antibiotics].

The possibility of standardization of the dry nutrient medium AGV by the content of calcium and magnesium ions was studied. For manufacturing the commercial lots of the medium it is necessary to use special batches of agar-agar. Biological assay with the use of standard strains is included into specification of the medium.

[Determination of the biological activity of aminoglycoside antibiotics on a dry nutrient medium of Soviet manufacture].

Possible use of the dry nutrient medium manufactured in the USSR for the assay of aminoglycoside antibiotic activity with the agar diffusion method was studied. [Dry medium for determining the beta-galactosidase activity of enterobacteria].

Differential diagnosis of enterobacteria is based on the determination of beta-galactosidase enzyme, hydrolyzing lactose in the nutrient substrates; however, the tests suggested for its determination are time consuming and their use in practice is limited. Dry nutrient medium prepared by the authors containing o-nitrophenyl-betaD-pyranoside was tested on 1625 strains of enterobacteria in comparison with the Le Minor's ONPS test used at present. The results of beta-galactosidase determination by the, mentioned methods proved to coincide (significance level greater than 95%); this permits to recommend the method described--in dry nutrient medium--as a differential-diagnostic test for the identification of enterobacteria.

[Sensitivity of different strains of E. coli and Shigella to the inhibitory action of Ploskirev's bactoagar].
