MEN2 is characterised by medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) (99%) and phaeochromocytoma (50%) and also other conditions according to specific genotype. MEN2A also includes a 25% risk of developing parathyroid hyperplasia and is now recognised as four separate syndromes: classic MEN2A, MEN2A with cutaneous lichen amyloidosis, MEN2A with Hirschsprung's disease and familial MTC.

Introduction: Congenital syphilis cases in the United States increased 755% during 2012-2021. Syphilis during pregnancy can lead to stillbirth, miscarriage, infant death, and maternal and infant morbidity; these outcomes can be prevented through appropriate screening and treatment.
Methods: A cascading framework was used to identify and classify missed opportunities to prevent congenital syphilis among cases reported to CDC in 2022 through the National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System.
Congenital syphilis (CS) rates have risen in the United States since 2013. Prevention of CS requires testing and treatment of pregnant and pregnancy-capable persons at high risk for syphilis. We developed a CS Prevention Cascade to assess how effectively testing and treatment interventions reached pregnant persons with a CS outcome.

Scattering-type scanning near-field optical microscopy (s-SNOM) with broadly tunable mid-IR excitation was used to interrogate details of the self-assembly process by generating nanoscopic chemical maps of local wire morphology and composition. s-SNOM images capture the evolution of wire formation and the complex interplay between different chemical constituents directing assembly over the nano- to microscopic length scales.

There are 2 promising approaches: the SaltSwitch smartphone app, which enables users to scan the bar code of a packaged food using their smartphone camera and receive an immediate, interpretive traffic light nutrition label on-screen alongside a list of healthier, lower-salt options in the same food category; and reduced-sodium salts (RSSs), which are an alternative to regular table salt that are lower in sodium and higher in potassium but have a similar mouthfeel, taste, and flavor.
Objective: Our aim was to determine whether a 12-week intervention with a sodium-reduction package comprising the SaltSwitch smartphone app and an RSS could reduce urinary sodium excretion in adults with high BP.
Proper differentiation of sperm from germline stem cells, essential for production of the next generation, requires dramatic changes in gene expression that drive remodeling of almost all cellular components, from chromatin to organelles to cell shape itself. Here, we provide a single nucleus and single cell RNA-seq resource covering all of spermatogenesis in starting from in-depth analysis of adult testis single nucleus RNA-seq (snRNA-seq) data from the Fly Cell Atlas (FCA) study. With over 44,000 nuclei and 6000 cells analyzed, the data provide identification of rare cell types, mapping of intermediate steps in differentiation, and the potential to identify new factors impacting fertility or controlling differentiation of germline and supporting somatic cells.

Objective: To investigate the impact of musculoskeletal (MSK)-related symptoms on the quality of life of patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia Type 2b (MEN2B).
Design: An online survey was distributed by the Association for Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Disorders (AMEND) to their members and worldwide via a social media group for MEN2B patients.
Methods: The survey consisted of a detailed questionnaire analysing the MSK-related symptoms and structural deformities of MEN2B patients and their impact on patient's lives.
Uterine fibroids (leiomyomas) affect Black women disproportionately compared with women of other races and ethnicities in terms of prevalence, incidence, and severity of symptoms. The causes of this racial disparity are essentially unknown. We hypothesized that myometria of Black women are more susceptible to developing fibroids, and we examined the transcriptomic and DNA methylation profiles of myometria and fibroids from Black and White women for comparison.

We analyzed the transcriptomes of myometrial samples from non-fibroid patients (M) and compared them with fibroid (F) and matched myometrial (MF) samples to determine whether there is a phenotypic difference between fibroid and non-fibroid myometria. Multidimensional scaling plots revealed that M samples clustered separately from both MF and F samples.
