The procedure of Thompson's hip hemiarthroplasty has been well established since the 1950s and is still widely used for neck of femur fractures. Symptomatic acetabular erosion is a concern, shown to be particularly present after long-term follow-up of active patients. We review the literature and present a unique 47 year follow-up of neck of femur fracture treated with Thompson's hemiarthroplasty.

Background. Radial subluxation of the extensor communis tendons at the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joints is a rarely reportedvinjury. These injuries have proved difficult to reproduce in cadaveric studies and have a low biomechanical likelihood of occurrence due to the ulnar direction of pull of the extensor communis tendons.
