Syntheses, Characterization, and Redox Activity of Ferrocene-Containing Titanium Complexes.

The chemistry of bis(π-η:σ-η-pentafulvene)titanium complexes is characterized by a broad range of E-H activation and Ti-C functionalization reactions, whereas ferrocene derivatives are easily accessible and redox-active compounds. The reaction of ferrocenealdehyde and -ketones with bis(π-η:σ-η-pentafulvene)titanium complexes result in the formation of bimetallic complexes via insertion of the C=O double bond of the aldehyde/ketone into the Ti-C bond of the pentafulvene moiety. The reaction of bis(π-η:σ-η-pentafulvene)titanium complexes with ferrocenyl alcohols leads to alcoholate complexes via deprotonation of the OH group by the pentafulvene ligand.

Geometrically Deformed and Conformationally Rigid Phosphorus Trisamides Featuring an Unsymmetrical Backbone.

Nonclassical P(III) centers have attracted much attention in recent years. Incorporating a P(III) center in a rigid bicyclic platform offers a particularly attractive way to invoke significant geometric distortion of the phosphorus atom that may in turn induce unusual reactivity. Although still relatively scarcely explored, phosphorus centers enforced in a non-C symmetry have gained significant traction lately.

Heterobimetallic uranyl(VI) alkoxides of lanthanoids: formation through simple ligand exchange.

Lanthanoid and actinoid silylamides are versatile starting materials. Herein we show how a simple ligand exchange with -butanol leads to the formation of the first trimeric heterobimetallic uranyl(VI)-lanthanoid(III) alkoxide complexes. The coordination of the endogenous uranyl oxo atom results in a significant elongation of the bond length and a significant deviation from the linear uranyl arrangement.

Implementation of a standardized protocol to manage elderly patients with low energy pelvic fractures: can service improvement be expected?

Purpose: The incidence of low energy pelvic fractures (FPFs) in the elderly is increasing. Comorbidities, decreased bone-quality, problematic fracture fixation and poor compliance represent some of their specific difficulties. In the absence of uniform management, a standard operating procedure (SOP) was introduced to our unit, aiming to improve the quality of services provided to these patients.

The Medical Advisory Service of the Health Insurance in the area of the Northern Rhine (MDK Nordrhein) has set up an internal concept for quality management since 1998. Paradoxical embolism and aortic occlusion: a case report.

This is the case report of a 45-year-old woman who sustained a left popliteal artery embolism. Ten days after popliteal embolectomy, she developed sudden occlusion of the distal aorta. She required a bifemoral embolectomy.

The effects of metoclopramide and cloxacepride on human mast cells from adenoidal tissues.

Cloxacepride is an amide of the dopamine antagonist metoclopramide and has been reported to possess oral antiallergic properties in the rat PCA model. Both substances have now been tested in isolated mast cell preparations from human adenoidal tissues to determine whether any therapeutic antiallergic potential in man could be expected. Metoclopramide at concentrations 10(-5)-10(-3) M had no inhibitory effect but instead enhanced Con A-induced histamine release at concentrations greater than 10(-4) M.

The number of mast cells which can be recovered from human adenoid tissues varies characteristically in the course of the year. The yield was found to be highest in May and lowest in July. The average histamine content was above average in April, June, July and September.

Mast cells from adenoid tissues of man do not form a homogeneous population but differ in size and ultrastructure. They degranulate on stimulation with specific antigen, ionophore A 23187, Concanavalin A and, under certain conditions, antihuman IgE or acetylcholine. Compound 48/80, dextran, purified C3a or C5a are ineffective.
