The COVID-19 pandemic put significant strain on societies and their resources, with the healthcare system and workers being particularly affected. Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers the unique possibility of improving the response to a pandemic as it emerges and evolves. Here, we utilize the WHO framework of a pandemic evolution to analyze the various AI applications.

Prevention of surgical resident attrition by a novel selection strategy.

Objective(s): We modified the resident selection strategy in an attempt to reduce resident attrition (RA).

Summary Background Data: Despite implementation of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education work rules, lifestyle and generational priorities have fostered a persistent and relatively high attrition rate for surgical trainees.

Methods: An independent external review of residents who left the training program and a detailed analysis of the resident selection strategy were performed by an organizational management expert.

Developing the strategic voice of senior nurse executives.

The Wharton School has been offering a senior nurse executive fellowship, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson, for 22 years. As the executive role has changed, the program has evolved. As more chief executive officers and chief operating officers come from the ranks of nursing, the program will continue to change to meet the needs of the future.
