Treatment With Adjuvant Abemaciclib Plus Endocrine Therapy in Patients With High-risk Early Breast Cancer Who Received Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy: A Prespecified Analysis of the monarchE Randomized Clinical Trial.

Importance: Patients selected to receive neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) are usually those at higher risk of relapse, and there is a need to find better therapeutic options for these patients.

Objective: To determine the efficacy and safety outcomes for patients with hormone receptor (HR)-positive, ERBB2 (formerly HER2)-, high-risk early breast cancer enrolled in the randomized clinical trial monarchE who received NAC.

Design, Setting, And Participants: The monarchE randomized clinical trial was a multicenter, phase 3, open-label study that evaluated adjuvant treatment with abemaciclib plus endocrine therapy (ET) compared with ET alone in patients with HR+, ERBB2-, and node-positive early breast cancer who were at high risk of recurrence.

Efficacy and safety of RGB-02, a pegfilgrastim biosimilar to prevent chemotherapy-induced neutropenia: results of a randomized, double-blind phase III clinical study vs. reference pegfilgrastim in patients with breast cancer receiving chemotherapy.

Background: Treatment with recombinant human granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) is accepted standard for prevention of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. RGB-02 (Gedeon Richter) is a proposed biosimilar to pegylated G-CSF (Neulasta®, Amgen) with sustained release properties. This is a randomized, comparative, double-blind, multicenter study to evaluate efficacy and safety of RGB-02 in breast cancer patients receiving cytotoxic regimen.

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to assess QTc interval prolongation of standard dose aflibercept in cancer patients treated with docetaxel.

: The effect of repeated doses of aflibercept on ventricular repolarization in cancer patients was evaluated in an intensive electrocardiogram trial. This randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial was conducted in 87 treated solid tumor patients. Treatment was with 6 mg/kg aflibercept, 1-hour intravenous (n = 43), or placebo (n = 44), combined with ≤75 mg/m docetaxel, every 3 weeks.

New trends in breast reconstruction.

Background: Breast reconstruction (BR) after radical mastectomy is intended to recreate symmetrical natural-appearing breasts while preserving patient safety and quality of life.

Purpose: To evaluate the esthetic results and the complications of various BR methods after radical mastectomy.

Patients And Method: Between August 2006 and March 2010, 36 women underwent BR after mastectomy in our institution.

[Colectomy in emergency surgery].

Unlike the standardised surgery of the right sided colic emergencies there is still a matter of debate on the emergency approach of the left colon and rectum. Between 1998 - 2007 on 32 patients (15 males, 17 females) we performed the single stage radical procedure total or subtotal colectomy. [Conservative management in blunt splenic trauma].

We reviewed for analysis the charts of two groups of adults patients with blunt splenic injuries issued from two University Hospital Centers; the group 1 (G1) of 22 patients and the group 2 (G2) of 20 patients. [Total gastrectomy with mechanical sutures].

Between 1994-1996, nine consecutive patients underwent total gastrectomy with stapled sutures for II, III or IV TNM stage carcinoma (8 patients) or lymphoma (1 patient) of the middle or upper stomach. Digestive continuity was established by stapled end-to-side "ended", end-to-side and end-to-end Roux-en-Y (7 patients) and omega loop (2 patients) esophagojejunal anastomoses using circular staplers (EEA or ILS).
