The aim of this multinational retrospective cohort study, conducted at academic and community oncology centres, was to describe real-world treatment patterns for patients with a confirmed diagnosis of advanced/metastatic (stage IIIB/IV) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who initiated first-line systemic therapy from January 2011 through June 2014. The study included 1265 patients in Italy, Spain, Germany, Australia, Korea, Taiwan and Brazil. The proportion of patients with squamous versus non-squamous NSCLC was approximately 20% versus 75%, and associated patient demographic characteristics were similar in all countries, excepting race.

We tested the reproducibility of the assessment of PD-L1 expression in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tissue samples by pathologists. NSCLC samples were stained with PD-L1 22C3 pharmDx kit using the Dako Autostainer Link 48 Platform.

To serve the National Canadian Transplant Programs, a cPRA calculator was developed with complete molecular typing for all donors at HLA-A, B, C, DRB1, DRB3/4/5, DQA1, DQB1, DPA1, and DPB1, all resolved to serologic equivalents.

We reviewed potential challenges of duplex sonography for diagnosis of chronic cerebrovascular venous insufficiency and used interim pooled data from a study aimed to apply cerebrovascular venous insufficiency criteria to a group of patients with MS and control patients without MS.
Methods: Duplex sonography for chronic cerebrovascular venous insufficiency was performed in patients with MS and controls.
We sought to determine the effect of hydration on the criteria for chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI), a proposed hypothesis for the etiology of multiple sclerosis (MS). Sixteen subjects (11 MS and 5 controls) were asked to fast overnight. The following morning, 2 CCSVI ultrasound examinations were performed: 1 in the mildly dehydrated state, and another 30-45 minutes after rehydrating with 1.

Depression may be a risk factor for opioid misuse, but it has been difficult to tease out the contribution of co-occurring substance abuse. This study aims to examine whether there is an association between depression and opioid misuse in patients receiving COT who have no history of substance abuse.

Aim: We previously reported that early patient outcome, chiefly ischaemic injury, was reduced in patients allocated to off pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) surgery. This report concerns the medium-term outcome for this cohort of patients.
Methods: A prospective observational study was carried out in a single cardiothoracic specialty hospital.
Objective: Diagnosis of perioperative myocardial infarction (P-MI) after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery traditionally relied on a combination of electrocardiographic and enzyme assay changes. Patients with Q-wave P-MIs who survive to hospital discharge have a poorer long-term prognosis. Troponin assays are more sensitive and specific for detecting minor P-MI, with an increased incidence of P-MI being reported.

Increased expression of M-CSFR causes microglia to adopt an activated state that results in proliferation, release of cytokines, and enhanced phagocytosis. To determine whether M-CSFR-induced microglial activation affects neuronal survival, we assembled a coculture system consisting of BV-2 microglia transfected to overexpress the M-CSFR and hippocampal organotypic slices treated with NMDA.

Design: Prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled.
Setting: Single institution, cardiothoracic specialty hospital.
