Inflammatory pain represents one of the unmet clinical needs for patients, as conventional therapies cause several side effects. Recently, new targets involved in inflammatory pain modulation have been identified, including the sigma-1 receptor (σ1R). Selective σ1R antagonists have demonstrated analgesic efficacy in acute and chronic inflammatory pain models.

Robot-assisted therapy (RAT) has been widely applied in various neurological conditions. However, the use of RAT in GBS remains underexplored.

MINAS is still underreported in the literature and public databases. Since MINAS-related phenotypes are difficult to predict, case descriptions may contribute to risk assessment, treatment, and personalized surveillance for proband and relatives.

Objective: To evaluate the angular vestibulo-ocular reflex (aVOR) of all six semicircular canals (SCCs) through Head Impulse (HIMP) and Suppression HIMP (SHIMP) paradigms and any correlations with clinical balance scales.
Methods: All participants were assessed using the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS), Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and Mini-BESTest (MBT).

Introduction: CTNNB1 gene loss-of-function variants cause Neurodevelopmental disorder with spastic diplegia and visual defects (NEDSDV, OMIM 615075). Although motor impairment represents a core feature of this condition, the motor phenotype remains poorly described. We systematically assessed a cohort of 14 patients with disease-causing CTNNB1 variants to better characterize the movement disorder phenotype.

However, its efficacy varies among individuals; thus, the identification of biomarkers to predict and follow treatment response is required. In this pilot study, we explored the potential of circulating microRNAs (c-miRNAs) to stratify patients based on their responsiveness to AA.

They are morpho-functionally classified as hypertrophic, dilated, restrictive, and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy with the addition of the left ventricular non-dilated cardiomyopathy that describes intermediate phenotypes not fulfilling standard disease definitions despite the presence of myocardial disease on cardiac imaging or tissue analysis. The new ESC guidelines provide 'a guide to the diagnostic approach to cardiomyopathies, highlight general evaluation and management issues, and signpost the reader to the relevant evidence base for the recommendations'.

The purpose of this study was to characterize opioid and antimicrobial prescribing among uninsured patients seeking emergency medical care and to build predictive machine learning models. Uninsured patients were less likely to receive an opioid medication, more likely to receive non-opioid alternatives, and less likely to receive an antimicrobial prescription. The most impactful contributing factors were housing status, comorbidities, and recidivism.

The aim of this study was to examine the long-term prognostic role of SA levels in predicting major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in middle-aged outpatients with chronic HF.
Methods: In the present retrospective analysis, 378 subjects with HF were enrolled.
Purpose: To define a peak force of insertion (PFOI) threshold for ureteral damage during ureteral access sheath (UAS) placement on an experimental ureteral orifice model.
Methods: A specially designed water tank using 2 laparoscopic 5 mm ports and 2 different size (10 Fr and 8 Fr) sealing cap adaptors (SCA) as ureteral orifices was used to perform the test. A 10-12 Fr UAS was fixed to a load cell and the force of insertion (FOI) was continuously recorded with a digital force gauge.
Objective: The aim was to evaluate the role of immune check point inhibitors (ICIs) in patients with high-grade upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) who are managed endoscopically when nephroureterectomy (NU) is not feasible, such as in patients who are either not candidates for NU or decline extirpative surgery.
Methods: All patients diagnosed with high-grade UTUC and managed endoscopically between January 1996 and August 2022 were included in the study. Subsequently, patients were categorised based on their use of ICIs into group 1 (patients who did not receive ICIs) and group 2 (patients who received ICIs).
Introduction: Statins, in the role of anti-cancer agents, have been used in many types of cancers with results in some cases promising while, in others, disappointing.
Areas Covered: The purpose of this review is to identify and highlight data from literature on the successes or failure of using statins as anti-cancer agents. We asked ourselves the following two questions:1.
Liver transplantation (LT) has significantly transformed the prognosis of patients with end-stage liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The traditional epidemiology of liver diseases has undergone a remarkable shift in indications for LT, marked by a decline in viral hepatitis and an increase in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), along with expanded indications for HCC. Recent advancements in surgical techniques, organ preservation and post-transplant patients' management have opened new possibilities for LT.

Herein, we describe the case of a 3-year-old boy with a rare metabolic disorder due to SLC30A10 bi-allelic mutations and characterized by hypermanganesemia, congenital erythrocytosis and neurodegeneration, also known as hypermanganesemia with dystonia 1 (HMNDYT1). The patient was treated with iron supplementation and chelation therapy with CaNa2EDTA, resulting in a significative reduction of blood manganese levels and erythrocytosis indexes.

Background And Aims: International guidelines advise improving esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) quality in Western countries, where gastric cancer is still diagnosed in advanced stages. This nationwide study investigated some indicators for the quality of EGD performed in endoscopic centers in Italy.
Methods: Clinical, endoscopic, and procedural data of consecutive EGDs performed in one month in the participating centers were reviewed and collected in a specific database.
Helicases, classified into six superfamilies, are mechanoenzymes that utilize energy derived from ATP hydrolysis to remodel DNA and RNA substrates. These enzymes have key roles in diverse cellular processes, such as translation, ribosome assembly, and genome maintenance. Helicases with essential functions in certain cancer cells have been identified, and helicases expressed by many viruses are required for their pathogenicity.

We analyzed predictors of unsustained MRD negativity in patients enrolled in the FORTE trial (NCT02203643). MRD was performed by multiparameter flow cytometry (sensitivity of 10-5) at premaintenance and every 6 months thereafter.
