Dendropsophusis one of the most species-rich genera of treefrogs. Recent studies integrating Sanger-generated mitochondrial and nuclear loci with phenomic characters (SP) have advanced understanding of this clade, but questions about its internal relationships and biogeographic history persist. To address these questions, we used anchored hybrid enrichment (AHE) to combine 432 nuclear loci for 78 taxa (72 % of species) with published data.

Efficacy of Therapeutic Hypothermia During Transport of Newborns With Perinatal Hypoxic-Ischaemic Encephalopathy: Experience From Newborn and Paediatric Transport Service, New South Wales.

Aim: To examine the efficacy of current non-servo-based cooling methods used by NETS NSW in treating hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE) with therapeutic hypothermia (TH) in neonatal retrieval.

Methods: A retrospective observational study of infants treated with TH for HIE retrieved by NETS NSW from January 2017 to June 2020 inclusive. Primary outcomes were the proportion of neonates achieving TH within 6 h of life and maintaining temperature in a therapeutic range.

Effects of Arthroscopic Surgery and Non-Surgical Therapy on Hip Contact Forces in Femoroacetabular Impingement Syndrome.

Introduction: We compared the 12-months effects of arthroscopic surgery and physiotherapist-led care for femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) syndrome on the time-varying magnitude of hip contact force and muscle contributions to hip contact force during walking.

Methods: Secondary analysis was performed on thirty-seven individuals with FAI syndrome who received biomechanical assessment before and 12-months following either arthroscopic surgery (n = 17) or physiotherapist-led care (Personalised Hip Therapy, PHT) (n = 20). At both time points, three-dimensional whole-body motions, ground reaction forces, and surface electromyograms (n = 14) were acquired during overground walking.

The highlands of the Guiana Shield (Pantepui) in northern South America harbor a unique fauna and flora. However, this diversity remains poorly documented, as many Pantepui massifs remain little explored or unexplored, mainly because their access is very challenging. Considering amphibians, 11 genera are endemic or sub-endemic to Pantepui, and one of them, Neblinaphryne, is monospecific and was recently described from the Neblina massif, at the border between Brazil and Venezuela.

We present the description of a novel treefrog species inhabiting the Andean streams in southeastern Ecuador that has been erroneously identified as Hyloscirtus lindae for four decades. The new species is closely related to H. tapichalaca and is part of the southern clade of the H.

Background: The Developmental Origins of Health and Disease Hypothesis (DOHaD) suggests prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) should have implications for adult physical and mental health. Since the health profile of older adults with PAE and diagnoses of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) is unknown, the current study evaluates self-reported health problems of midlife adults with and without a history of PAE to describe these outcomes.

Methods: Participants (N = 357) recruited from longitudinal cohorts in Atlanta, GA and Seattle, WA completed a health survey assessing a range of physical conditions.

Leptospirosis in the Platypus () in Australia: Who Is Infecting Whom?

The platypus () is an amphibious, egg-laying mammal of high conservation value that is found only in Australia. The zoonotic bacterium serovar Hardjo was discovered in platypuses in prior studies, but little is known about its epidemiology. Samples in the Platypus Serum Bank were tested in 2023 and the results were combined with historical records.

Small LEA proteins mitigate air-water interface damage to fragile cryo-EM samples during plunge freezing.

Air-water interface (AWI) interactions during cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) sample preparation cause significant sample loss, hindering structural biology research. Organisms like nematodes and tardigrades produce Late Embryogenesis Abundant (LEA) proteins to withstand desiccation stress. Here we show that these LEA proteins, when used as additives during plunge freezing, effectively mitigate AWI damage to fragile multi-subunit molecular samples.

A new triazene ligand was prepared by the reaction of the bulky aryl azide, TerMesN, (2,6-bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)phenyl azide), with the bulky N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC), SIPr (,'-2,6-bis(diisopropylphenyl)-3,4-dihydroimidazol-2-ylidene). The steric bulk of these two groups leads to perpendicular bonding of the NHC-N plane and the aryl group which provides immense steric crowding around the triazene core. The corresponding π-conjugated triazene ligand was utilized as a neutral, monodentate ligand which results in monomeric Cu(I)Cl, Ag(I)OTf, and Au(I)Cl complexes.

Single-use synthetic plastic and natural fibre anaesthetic drug trays: a comparative life cycle assessment of environmental impacts.

Background: Single-use anaesthetic drug trays are used widely in Australia, but their environmental impact is unclear.

Methods: A life cycle assessment was completed for 10 different types of single-use anaesthetic drug trays made of four materials: the synthetic plastics polypropylene and polystyrene, and the natural fibres bagasse (sugarcane pulp) and cellulose pulp.

Results: Carbon emissions per tray from total life cycle with landfill disposal were 33-454 g CO-eq, which equates to 152-2066 tonnes CO-eq annually.

Squatting biomechanics following physiotherapist-led care or hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement syndrome: a secondary analysis from a randomised controlled trial.

Background: Femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS) can cause hip pain and chondrolabral damage that may be managed non-operatively or surgically. Squatting motions require large degrees of hip flexion and underpin many daily and sporting tasks but may cause hip impingement and provoke pain. Differential effects of physiotherapist-led care and arthroscopy on biomechanics during squatting have not been examined previously.

Generation of 3D Fibroblast-Derived Extracellular Matrix and Analysis of Tumor Cell-Matrix Interactions and Signaling.

Fibroblasts are the major producers of the extracellular matrix and regulate its organization. Aberrant signaling in diseases such as fibrosis and cancer can impact the deposition of the matrix proteins, which can in turn act as an adhesion scaffold and signaling reservoir promoting disease progression. To study the composition and organization of the extracellular matrix as well as its interactions with (tumor) cells, this protocol describes the generation and analysis of 3D fibroblast-derived matrices and the investigation of (tumor) cells seeded onto the 3D scaffolds by immunofluorescent imaging and cell adhesion, colony formation, migration, and invasion/transmigration assays.

An HLA-E-targeted TCR bispecific molecule redirects T cell immunity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Peptides presented by HLA-E, a molecule with very limited polymorphism, represent attractive targets for T cell receptor (TCR)-based immunotherapies to circumvent the limitations imposed by the high polymorphism of classical HLA genes in the human population. Here, we describe a TCR-based bispecific molecule that potently and selectively binds HLA-E in complex with a peptide encoded by the gene of (Mtb), the causative agent of tuberculosis in humans. We reveal the biophysical and structural bases underpinning the potency and specificity of this molecule and demonstrate its ability to redirect polyclonal T cells to target HLA-E-expressing cells transduced with mycobacterial as well as primary cells infected with virulent Mtb.

Objective: This systematic literature review aims to examine the role of HL in interactions with SDoH and to identify feasible HL-based interventions that address low patient understanding of health information to improve clinic note-sharing efficacy.
