The optimal contraception dosing strategy proposed by Gavina et al. recently is a commendable attempt to model a complex physiological process with potenial to apply to real-life data. However, there is a need to take into account the real challenges that arise when moving from the theory to its practical application, and it is important that lessons learnt from clinical studies be taken into consideration in any theoretical modelling.

Introduction: In ovarian steroid-dependent diseases such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis and adenomyosis, oral GnRH antagonists have emerged as new therapeutic alternatives. These oral GnRH antagonists offer key advantages, including oral administration, dose-dependent estrogen suppression and rapid reversibility.
Areas Covered: This review examines the pharmacological, clinical and therapeutic profiles of the latest non-peptide oral GnRH antagonists, through an analysis of clinical evidence and randomized clinical trials, to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of their clinical applications and potential benefits.

Background: The zoonotic bacterium Francisella tularensis, the causative agent of tularaemia, can be transmitted to humans via multiple routes, including through contact with infected animals, contaminated water or arthropod vectors. Ticks have not previously been described as transmitting the disease in Sweden. Recently, Ixodid tick species have expanded their latitudinal and altitudinal range in Sweden to areas where the disease is endemic.

Cancer prevention in these syndromes includes prophylactic surgeries, personalized surveillance programs and chemopreventive strategies. Chemoprevention exploits the use of certain drugs or other substances to help lower the risk of developing cancer.

In Sweden, it is recommended to treat rams at sheep markets with ivermectin and then keep them in quarantine to minimise the risk of transmission of Haemonchus contortus between farms. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of this practise. Accordingly the gastrointestinal parasite status of 50 rams purchased at two sheep markets in central Sweden in autumn 2019 was investigated using faecal samples collected on the day of sale (test 1), 12 ± 3 days after ivermectin injection (test 2, in quarantine) and a few months later before inclusion in the new flocks (test 3).

High-affinity MPO- and PR3-ANCA immunoglobulins are produced by antigen-experienced, class-switched autoreactive B cells. To prevent autoreactivity, B cells are subjected to several self-tolerance checkpoints, from the early immature stages in the bone marrow (BM), collectively called "central tolerance", to late mature stages, collectively called "peripheral tolerance"; the latter was recently elucidated for autoreactive PR3 B cells.

With the increasing number of survivors, many are enrolled in regular follow-up programs. However, adherence to recommendations from scientific societies (such as ASCO, ESMO, AIOM) for breast cancer follow-up management varies in daily clinical practice across different cancer centers, potentially resulting in unequal management and escalating costs.

The implementation of PARP inhibitors in clinical settings can be challenging due to their overlapping indications with other drugs, including both recently approved medications and those with proven efficacy. This study utilized the Delphi method to present the first Italian consensus regarding genetic testing, the use of PARP inhibitors in both early and metastatic settings, and strategies for managing the potential toxicity of these novel drugs.

Materials And Methods: Six months modification in the McCoy Female Sexuality Questionnaire (MFSQ) and testosterone (T) and dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate (DHEAS) serum levels in women starting a monophasic pill containing ethinyl-estradiol (EE) 35 µg and NGM 0.250 mg.
Background: Pelvic congestion syndrome (PCS) is associated with chronic pelvic pain (CPP). The efficacy of flavonoids for treating PCS symptoms is still a matter of debate, and little has been published. The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of a mixture of diosmin, troxerutin, and hesperidin in improving symptoms of patients with PCS, observing a direct effect on circulation by specific color Doppler ultrasonography (CDU) evaluations.

This study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs of women with LS regarding combined hormonal contraceptive (CHC) use compared to a control group of healthy women.
Methods: Pre-menopausal women with LS ( = 43) and an age-matched control group of healthy women ( = 128) participated in this prospective, cross-sectional study (NCT05909410).
The clinical presentation of adrenal insufficiency, a condition causing adrenal hormone deficiency, is characterised by non-specific symptoms and signs: consequently, an important diagnostic delay is often evident which correlates with an increased mortality. This case report shows how the clustering of some symptoms and signs may hamper the diagnostic suspicion for this condition: serum electrolyte alterations and weight loss, when associated to recurrent infections and, in female patients, an empty sella may further guide the clinician towards a diagnosis of adrenal insufficiency. Accordingly, a clinical approach taking into account gender medicine could improve the diagnostic workup.

A relatively new method to study the species richness and diversity of nematode parasites in grazing animals is to perform deep sequencing on composite samples containing a mixture of parasites. In this work, we compared species composition of strongyles in two groups of horses as a function of egg count and age, based on a DNA barcoding approach. Faecal egg counts and larval cultures were obtained from nearly 300 horses, i.

Outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) produced by Gram-negative bacteria have emerged as a novel and flexible vaccine platform. OMVs can be decorated with foreign antigens and carry potent immunostimulatory components. Therefore, after their purification from the culture supernatant, they are ready to be formulated for vaccine use.

Purpose: Progestin-only pills (POPs), compared to combined, are not associated with an increased risk of venous thromboembolism, but are associated with a poor cycle control. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of a new POP [4 mg drospirenone (DRSP) for 24 days with a 4-day hormone-free interval] on some coagulation markers (both procoagulant and fibrinolytic) and to describe its impact on bleeding patterns.
Materials And Methods: This is a prospective trial, based on serum evaluation of following coagulation markers and tests: Factor (F) X, F VIII, F V, INR, aPTT, Protein S and antithrombin III.
