Medial impingement after ankle replacement.

Ankle replacements appear to offer a good alternative to fusion for most arthritic conditions. Use of mobile bearings has significantly improved results of ankle replacement. Ankle replacements still have a significant minor-complication rate which does not seem to affect the long-term outcome.

Perthes' disease in the very young child.

We report two cases of very young children who presented with irritable hips and in whom magnetic resonance imaging with gadolinium-enhancement revealed ischaemic changes affecting the capital ossific nucleus. Radiological changes consistent with Perthes' disease subsequently appeared. In the published literature Perthes' disease has been reported in children as young as 24 months.

Progressive cubitus varus due to a bony physeal bar in a 4-year-old girl following a supracondylar fracture: a case report.

We report a case of progressive cubitus varus deformity caused by a physeal bar following a supracondylar humeral fracture in a 4-year-old girl. Malreduction is thought to be the commonest cause of this deformity, which is nonprogressive. A corrective osteotomy in cases like ours should be deferred until skeletal maturity.

First metatarsophalangeal joint arthrodesis: a new technique of internal fixation by using memory compression staples.
