Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been detected in multiple animal species, including white-tailed deer (WTD), raising concerns about zoonotic transmission, particularly in environments with frequent human interactions. To understand how human exposure influences SARS-CoV-2 infection in WTD, we compared infection and exposure prevalence between farmed and free-ranging deer populations in Florida. We also examined the timing and viral variants in WTD relative to those in Florida's human population.

Article Synopsis
  • Allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (alloHSCT) shows high survival rates (90% overall survival) in adolescents and adults with severe inborn errors of immunity (IEI), as assessed in a study of 82 patients.
  • The study found that pre-transplant immune dysregulation (measured by the IDDA v2.1 score) and the haematopoietic cell transplantation comorbidity index (HCT-CI) score significantly affected transplant outcomes, including overall survival and event-free survival.
  • Notably, a portion of patients with a high IDDA v2.1 score and low HCT-CI score indicates that existing risk assessments may underestimate the risks of alloHSCT, highlighting

Background/objectives: Access to cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is contingent upon physician referrals, yet these are often inadequate, particularly in low-resource settings. This multi-method study aimed to translate, culturally adapt, and validate the Portuguese version of the Provider Attitudes toward CR and Referral (PACRR-P) scale, as well as to identify key factors influencing CR referral in a Latin American context for the first time.

Methods: The PACRR was translated into Brazilian Portuguese through a rigorous process involving independent translation, back-translation, and expert panel review to ensure face, content, and cross-cultural validity.

Article Synopsis
  • Major advancements in medical and surgical treatment for cardiovascular disease (CVD) over the past century have led to improved survival rates and shorter hospital stays, increasing the need for ongoing cardiovascular risk management.
  • Despite these advancements, post-discharge care often relies on outdated rehabilitation models that don't adequately address the long-term needs of survivors living with CVD.
  • The paper advocates for reframing cardiac rehabilitation into a broader concept of supporting cardiovascular health through the "5 P's": personalization, processes, patient-centered care, parlance, and partnership, to better engage survivors and improve their outcomes.

We investigated whether characterization of full-length GAD (f-GADA) antibody (GADA) responses could identify early insulin requirement in adult-onset diabetes. In 179 f-GADA-positive participants diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, we assessed associations of truncated GADA (t-GADA) positivity, f-GADA IgG subclasses, and f-GADA affinity with early insulin requirement (<5 years), type 1 diabetes genetic risk score (T1D GRS), and C-peptide. t-GADA positivity was lower in f-GADA-positive without early insulin in comparison with f-GADA-positive type 2 diabetes requiring insulin within 5 years, and T1D (75% vs.

The amygdala is important for human fear processing. However, recent research has failed to reveal specificity, with evidence that the amygdala also responds to other emotions. A more nuanced understanding of the amygdala's role in emotion processing, particularly relating to fear, is needed given the importance of effective emotional functioning for everyday function and mental health.

Males and females who consume cannabis can experience different mental health and cognitive problems. Neuroscientific theories of addiction postulate that dependence is underscored by neuroadaptations, but do not account for the contribution of distinct sexes. Further, there is little evidence for sex differences in the neurobiology of cannabis dependence as most neuroimaging studies have been conducted in largely male samples in which cannabis dependence, as opposed to use, is often not ascertained.
