Purpose: To report the margin control process and rate of recurrence of periocular basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) managed by en-face, frozen section margin controlled (FSC), excision by a single surgeon with a 3-year follow-up.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of all histopathologically proven cases of periocular BCC who underwent surgical excision with intra-operative, en-face, FSC, excision by a single surgeon from 2015 to 2019 was performed. Patients with less than 3-year follow-up were offered a virtual appointment to determine possible recurrence.
Purpose: To describe the anatomical, visual, and safety results of full-thickness macular hole (FTMH) repair surgery and determine factors influencing outcomes.
Patients And Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed on all patients who underwent primary FTMH repair surgery by a single surgeon over a 3-year period. For comparisons, Snellen visual acuity (VA) was converted to logMAR equivalent.
Background: Early vitrectomy for complete fundus-obscuring vitreous haemorrhage (VH) allows for prompt diagnosis and treatment of the cause.
Aims: To analyse the causes of VH of unknown aetiology, whether partially fundus-obscuring or dense, and to determine the outcomes of early vitrectomy.
Methods: A retrospective review of patients who underwent early vitrectomy within 10 days of symptom-onset for partially fundus-obscuring or dense VH of unknown origin.
We report the use of Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) for the treatment of sterile corneal perforation after trauma. In an eye with corneal perforation and cataract due to trauma, cataract surgery and DSAEK were performed. Corneal integrity was promptly restored and the patient avoided tectonic anterior lamellar and penetrating keratoplasty.
