Comparative Value of CRP and FCP for Endoscopic and Histologic Remissions in Ulcerative Colitis.

We have previously shown that CRP < 2.9 mg/L is a better predictor of endoscopic remission (ER) than CRP < 5 mg/L in ulcerative colitis (UC). Here, we prospectively evaluate CRP and FCP cut-offs and compare them in predicting ER and histological remission (HR) in UC.

Targeting complement dysregulation: eculizumab in scleroderma renal crisis management-a case-based review.

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) poses significant challenges in clinical management, especially when complicated by scleroderma renal crisis (SRC), a rare but life-threatening manifestation. Here, we report a 41-year-old female patient with SSc who presented with SRC and concurrent thrombotic microangiopathy. Her condition persisted despite conventional treatments such as plasma exchange and renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system blockade.

Discoloration of surface sealants by plaque disclosing solution.

Purpose: Surface sealants are widely used as a prevention strategy and are indicated for young patients with insufficient oral hygiene who also need plaque removal by professional tooth cleaning. The aim of this study was to evaluate discoloration of surface sealants by plaque disclosing solutions and to test to what extent this discoloration can be reduced again by professional tooth cleaning.

Methods: In all, 96 extracted lesion-free human teeth were randomly assigned to treatment with either Pro Seal® (PS; Opal Orthodontics, South Jordan, UT, USA) or Opal®Seal™ (OS; Reliance Orthodontic Products, Itasca, IL, USA).
