The retrograde approach to chronic total occlusion (CTO) percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has significantly contributed to the success rates of CTO PCI. It is usually performed in complex CTO lesions, in which the antegrade approach is not feasible or fails. In this article we discuss the steps to perform retrograde CTO PCI and its complications and success rates.

Purpose: Pediatric patients undergoing neurosurgery pose risk of perioperative hemorrhage and clotting dysfunction which is increased in tumors with high vascularity, endothelial exposure, and necrosis. Lesions affecting the ventricular system may arise from several etiologies, including rare tumors. The present study aimed to study the preoperative coagulation and transfusion profile of pediatric patients undergoing neurosurgery for intraventricular lesions.

Deviated nasal septum (DNS) is a common condition affecting nasal breathing, which is generally treated using septoplasty. However, this invasive surgical method carries potential risks of post-surgical complications. Alternatively, electromechanical reshaping (EMR) is a novel method that has evolved as a non-thermal, minimally invasive option to reshape the cartilage using mechanical pressure and direct current (DC) without significant tissue damage.

Purpose: While the scala tympani (ST) is usually the preferred site for electrode insertion in cochlear implantation, anatomical variations and cochlear ossification may require scala vestibuli (SV) insertion. This systematic review evaluates the feasibility, techniques, and clinical outcomes of SV insertions compared to ST insertions, focusing on their impact on auditory performance.

Methods: A systematic review was conducted using PRISMA guidelines.

Chronic total occlusions (CTO) are frequently encountered in clinical practice. Although the success rates and safety of CTO percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) have significantly improved with the development of newer equipment, use of an algorithmic approach, and advancement in procedural techniques, CTO PCI has a higher rate of complication than does non-CTO PCI. Therefore, meticulous preprocedural planning before CTO PCI is paramount to improve success and reduce the risk of complications.

Background: Cholesteatoma, a destructive middle ear condition, poses challenges due to its variable clinical presentation and propensity for recurrence. Understanding its molecular underpinnings could enhance prognostication and guide therapeutic interventions. This study investigates the association between cholesteatoma aggressiveness, as assessed by the Middle Ear Risk Index (MERI), and the expression of miRNA-21 and IL-6 genes.

Unlabelled: COVID-19 pandemic, which has exhibited a wide clinical spectrum and an unexpected surge in mucormycosis cases, understanding various biomarkers' roles becomes pivotal. As mucormycosis leads to clinical morbidity and mortality through angioinvasion and thromboembolism, unveiling the correlation between these markers and disease progression can shed light on the reasons behind mucormycosis's emergence as an epidemic, especially following the second wave of COVID-19. This long term ambispective observational study, conducted from May 2020 to July 2023, aimed to assess specific biomarkers as predictors of severity in COVID-19-associated mucormycosis (CAM).

Type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a complicated long-term disorder associated with metabolism that is identified by insulin resistance, imbalance in glucose regulation and reduced secretion of insulin. GLP-1(Glucagon-like peptide-1) is an incretin mimetic that has excellent effects on the regulation of blood glucose levels and also the management of disorders associated with vital organs. GLP-1 agonist is an effective class of drug for the treatment of type-2 diabetes mellitus and associated complications.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-associated mucormycosis (CAM) has emerged as a formidable infection in patients with COVID-19, this study was designed to assess the QOL in patients with and its predictability for survival in CAM victims. This long term prospective observational study of 290 patients with CAM was conducted over 2 years using a standard questionnaire (the abbreviated World Health Organization Quality of Life questionnaire [WHO-BREF]), Karnofsky performance scale (KPS), palliative performance scale (PPS) and patient rated improvement (PRI) ranging from 0 to 9. Cut-off values of ≤ median score was considered to indicate poor QOL or poor improvement.

This study presents a novel method leveraging surface wave-assisted photonic spin Hall effect (PSHE) to construct physical unclonable functions (PUFs). PUFs exploit inherent physical variations to generate unique Challenge-Response pairs, which are critical for hardware security and arise from manufacturing discrepancies, device characteristics, or timing deviations. We explore PSHE generation-based PUF design, expanding existing design possibilities.

Artemisinin and its derivatives have been commonly used to treat malaria. However, the emergence of resistance against artemisinin derivatives has posed a critical challenge in malaria management. In the present study, we have proposed a combinatorial approach, utilizing pH-responsive acetal-dextran nanoparticles (Ac-Dex NPs) as carriers for the delivery of withaferin-A (WS-3) and artesunate (Art) to improve treatment efficacy of malaria.

Objective: This study aims to discern the disparities in the electrode-to-modiolus distance (EMD) between cochleostomy and round window approaches when performed sequentially in the same temporal bone. Additionally, the study seeks to identify the cochlear metrics that contribute to these differences.

Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted, involving the sequential insertion of a 12-electrode array through both round window and cochleostomy approaches in cadaveric temporal bones.
