Supplementation with CBM588, a bifidogenic live bacterial product, has been associated with improved clinical outcomes in persons with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) receiving nivolumab and ipilimumab. However, its effect on those receiving tyrosine kinase inhibitor-based combinations is unknown. In this open-label, randomized, investigator-initiated, phase 1 study, 30 participants with locally advanced or mRCC with histological confirmation of clear cell, papillary or sarcomatoid component were randomized in a 2:1 fashion to receive cabozantinib (an inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor, MET and AXL) and nivolumab (anti-programmed cell death protein 1) with or without CBM588 as first-line treatment.

This study reports the development of an exome capture-based RNA-sequencing assay to detect recurring and novel fusions in hematologic, solid, and central nervous system tumors. The assay used Twist Comprehensive Exome capture with either fresh or formalin-fixed samples and a bioinformatic platform that provides fusion detection, prioritization, and downstream curation. A minimum of 50 million uniquely mapped reads, a consensus read alignment/fusion calling approach using four callers (Arriba, FusionCatcher, STAR-Fusion, and Dragen), and custom software were used to integrate, annotate, and rank the candidate fusion calls.

High-fidelity preparation of quantum states in an interacting many-body system is often hindered by the lack of knowledge of such states and by limited decoherence times. Here, we study a quantum optimal control (QOC) approach for fast generation of quantum ground states in a finite-sized Jaynes-Cummings lattice with unit filling. Our result shows that the QOC approach can generate quantum many-body states with high fidelity when the evolution time is above a threshold time, and it can significantly outperform the adiabatic approach.

We sought to determine racial and ethnic differences in perceptions (quality of communication, expectations, and concerns) of germline or somatic DNA sequencing (genomic profiling). Patients with prostate, urothelial, or kidney cancer were surveyed using a questionnaire that assessed previous experience, beliefs, expectations, and concerns regarding genomic profiling. We present a two-dimensional coupled nonlinear Schrödinger-like system with spatial diffractions, degree of birefringence, and four-wave mixing. This system describes two physical contexts: optical pulse propagation beyond the paraxial approximation in a weakly birefringence waveguide and light propagation near exciton-polariton resonance in semiconductor superlattice materials. We find that such systems naturally support different types of diffraction profiles, including spherical, ellipsoidal, and hyperbolic structures.

Materials And Methods: This longitudinal study assessed patients before starting therapy and 3-months later with a questionnaire that included patient perceptions of ICIs and the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) Anxiety scale. Treatment of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) after first-line immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) lacks standardization, with limited evidence from small trials and retrospective data. Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) inhibition through tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) is the most widely adopted second-line treatment. Encouraging results have been seen with VEGFR-TKIs in the second-line after exposure to an ICI-based combination, achieving a response rate of 30%, and 75% of patients achieving disease control.
