Purpose: To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the biomechanical properties of the knee after PLC reconstruction with fibular-based and tibiofibular-based techniques.
Background: Selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs) are small-molecule compounds that exert agonist and antagonist effects on androgen receptors in a tissue-specific fashion. Because of their performance-enhancing implications, SARMs are increasingly abused by athletes. To date, SARMs have no Food and Drug Administration approved use, and recent case reports associate the use of SARMs with deleterious effects such as drug-induced liver injury, myocarditis, and tendon rupture.

Non-operative management has traditionally been the mainstay of treatment for isolated and low-energy humeral shaft fractures, with operative management reserved for severe cases often involving neurovascular compromise. This case describes a rare, yet catastrophic complication of a humeral shaft fracture where the patient developed trauma-induced coagulopathy (TIC), resulting in amputation of the affected extremity, systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), and ultimately death.

The Attitudes and Decisions After Pregnancy Testing (ADAPT) study investigates the consequences for individuals unable to attain their pregnancy and childbearing preferences using an innovative nested prospective cohort design and novel conceptualisation and measurement of pregnancy preferences.
Participants: This paper describes the characteristics of the ADAPT Study Cohort, comprised of 2015 individuals aged 15-34 years, assigned female at birth, recruited between 2019 and 2022 from 23 health facilities in the southwestern USA.
Purpose: To evaluate the biomechanical properties of open versus percutaneous Achilles tendon repair.
Methods: A systematic review of original research articles was performed using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. To qualify for study inclusion, articles were required to be published in English, use a laboratory design using either human or animal tissue, and directly compare the biomechanical properties of open Achilles repair using a Krackow or Kessler technique with percutaneous repair using either a locking or nonlocking suture construct.

We sought to analyze financial trends in public orthopaedic surgery funding and characterize trends in private funding distribution among orthopaedic surgeons and hospitals to explore potential disparities across orthopaedic subspecialties.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional analysis of private and public orthopaedic research funding from 2015 to 2021 using the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Open Payments database and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) RePORTER through the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research, respectively.
Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has brought significant mental health challenges, particularly for vulnerable populations, including non-binary gender individuals. The COMET international study aimed to investigate specific risk factors for clinical depression or distress during the pandemic, also in these special populations.
Methods: Chi-square tests were used for initial screening to select only those variables which would show an initial significance.
Background: The split anconeus fascia transfer (SAFT) is an option for reconstruction of the lateral ulnar collateral ligament (LUCL) in chronic posterolateral rotatory instability (PLRI) of the elbow with potential advantages of using only local tissue within the surgical exposure and not requiring ulnar fixation. This study aimed to assess SAFT strength compared to a traditional free graft reconstruction in a PLRI biomechanical model.

Previous meta-analyses have characterized work-related musculoskeletal disorders among interventionists, general surgeons, and other surgical subspecialties, but prevalence estimates, prognosis, and ergonomic considerations vary by study and surgical specialty.
Questions/purposes: (1) What is the career prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders in orthopaedic surgeons? (2) What is the treatment prevalence associated with work-related musculoskeletal disorders in orthopaedic surgeons? (3) What is the disability burden of work-related musculoskeletal disorders in orthopaedic surgeons? (4) What is the scope of orthopaedic surgical ergonomic assessments and interventions?
Methods: A systematic review of English-language studies from PubMed, MEDLINE, Embase, and Scopus was performed in December 2022 and reported in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines.
We have previously produced a toolkit of antibodies, comprising recombinant human antibodies of all but one of the human isotypes, directed against the polcalcin family antigen Phl p 7. In this work, we complete the toolkit of human antibody isotypes with the IgD version of the anti-Phl p 7 monoclonal antibody. We also raised a set of nanobodies against the IgD anti-Phl p 7 antibody and identify and characterize one paratope-specific nanobody.

The primary reason for this conjecture is that the distribution of clusters (avalanches of firing neurons in the brain or regions of slip in earthquake faults) can be described by a power law. Because there are other mechanisms such as 1/f noise that can produce power laws, other criteria that the cluster critical exponents must satisfy can be used to conclude whether or not the observed power-law behavior indicates an underlying critical point rather than an alternate mechanism.
