Background: To evaluate the impact of the new IADPSG thresholds on gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) prevalence.
Methods: Universal screening for GDM was performed in 200 consecutive patients at 24 to 28 weeks with 75 g oral glucose tolerance test.
Results: The prevalence of GDM was 14.
Objective: To evaluate the fetal, neonatal, and long-term prognosis of massive fetomaternal hemorrhage (20 mL or more).
Methods: This series includes all patients with Kleihauer test values of 40 per 10,000 or higher over an 8-year period at two university hospitals. We examined obstetric, neonatal, and subsequent outcome data for the children.

Bicornuate uterus with rudimentary horn is a rare disability. Pregnancy can accidentally settle inside the rudimentary horn; in this case, it becomes apparent by uterine rupture generally in the second trimester. Bicornuate uterus should be diagnosed early, before pregnancy if possible.

Despite the efficacy of this combination, the possibility of eventually severe side effects must also be taken into account.
Observation: A pancytopenia occurred at 37 weeks of amenorrhea during antenatal treatment for congenital toxoplasmosis in a tripara.

Objective: To determine if a trial of labor in twin pregnancy with previous cesarean section is an acceptable alternative to systematic cesarean section.
Patients And Methods: Based on a retrospective and comparative study from 1st January 1996 to 30th June 2003 in Maternite Jeanne-de-Flandre (Lille) and Pavillon Paul-Gelle (Roubaix), 35 trials of labor in twin pregnancies with previous cesarean section have been compared with 35 twin gestations attempting vaginal delivery without a prior cesarean. This comparative study has been led by sorting out the patients according to their gestational age, parity and maternity.

Background: Medical treatment of ectopic pregnancy is widespread. To increase the efficacy of methotrexate, combination with mifepristone has been proposed.
Methods: We performed a large prospective multicentre double-blind sequential randomized trial in order to compare the efficacy of methotrexate and mifepristone (600 mg given orally) versus methotrexate and placebo.

Massive fetomaternal hemorrhage is rare. Without risk factors, early diagnosis is difficult to establish. The clinical and paraclinical manifestations are not specific and depend on fetal compensatory reactions; the Kleihauer test will confirm the diagnosis.

We report a case of an isolated persistent right umbilical vein which was diagnosed on an ultrasound examination performed in the third trimester of pregnancy. This was made possible by the contribution of color flow Doppler and real-time ultrasound. Having isolated the anomaly no further fetal monitoring was instituted.

Placental chorioangioma is a benign vascular tumor found in about 1% of pregnancies at routine histological examination of the placenta. The large placental tumor may cause serious fetal complications. We report 4 cases of placental chorioangioma diagnosed during the second trimester.

Objective: To study the association between preterm labor and bacterial vaginosis; in women with preterm labor, to determine whether vaginosis modifies the risk of preterm delivery.
Study Design: Case-control study. We used Amsel's clinical criteria to test 102 patients hospitalized for preterm labor and 102 control patients for bacterial vaginosis.

Objective: To compare the predictive value of intrapartum fetal pulse oximetry to that of fetal blood analysis for an abnormal neonatal outcome in case of abnormal fetal heart rate (FHR).
Study Design: A prospective multicenter observational study, from June 1994 to November 1995. Fetal oxygen saturation was continuously recorded using a Nellcor N-400 fetal pulse oximeter in case of abnormal FHR during labor.

Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of intrapartum fetal pulse oximetry, the distribution of fetal oxygen saturation values, and the relation with the neonatal outcome in a population with an abnormal fetal heart rate (FHR).
Study Design: A prospective multicenter observational study, from June 1994 to November 1995. Fetal oxygen saturation was continuously recorded using a Nellcor N-400 fetal pulse oximeter in case of abnormal FHR during labor.

We recently observed a case of congenital rubella which had gone unrecognized despite regular obstetrical care. This case emphasizes the importance of careful screening for rubella at diagnosis of pregnancy. Minute analysis of the initial maternal antibody levels is essential to rule out possible contamination during pregnancy.

Objective: This study was designed to assess the changes in fetal oxygen saturation (FSpO2) using fetal pulse oximetry when the fetal heart rate (FHR) monitoring became abnormal during stage II of labour.
Study Design: FSpO2 was recorded with the Nellcor N400 Oximeter (FS-14 sensor) and was averaged over the last 10 min of the second stage of labour. Second stage FHR patterns were assessed according to Melchior's classification.
Acute liver failure occurred in a 33 WA pregnant 4th parity woman. Transfer to intensive care was required and liver transplantation was discussed. Search for the causal mechanism revealed viral hepatitis A.
