Background And Purpose: Despite the improvement in technology, endovascular treatment of bifurcation intracranial wide-neck aneurysms remains challenging, mainly due to the difficulty of maintaining coils within the aneurysm sac without compromising the patency of bifurcation arteries. The Woven EndoBridge (WEB) device is a recent intrasaccular braided device specifically dedicated to treating such aneurysms with a wide neck by disrupting the flow in the aneurysmal neck and promoting progressive aneurysmal thrombosis.

Materials And Methods: Using several health data bases, we conducted a systematic review of all published studies of WEB endovascular treatment in intracranial aneurysms from 2010 onward to evaluate its efficacy and safety profile.

The PulseRider is a novel endovascular device specifically designed to treat bifurcation intracranial aneurysms with wide necks. In an international series, we report the results of PulseRider stent-assisted coiling of 15 patients (9 women and 6 men; mean age, 62.6 years) with 15 unruptured wide-neck (median dome size, 8 mm; median neck size, 5 mm) bifurcation aneurysms.

Background And Purpose: Endovascular coiling of wide-neck intracranial aneurysms is associated with low rates of initial angiographic occlusion and high rates of recurrence. The WEB intrasaccular device has been developed specifically for this indication. To date, there has been no report of the long-term follow-up of a series of patients with aneurysms treated with this type of device, to our knowledge.

Background And Purpose: Endovascular treatment of bifurcation middle cerebral artery aneurysms with a wide neck could be challenging, and many lesions are still treated by a surgical approach. The pCONus is a newly emerging device for wide-neck bifurcation intracranial aneurysms. To date, a single report on the treatment of intracranial aneurysms including all locations has been published.

Background: The WEB device is a recent intrasaccular flow disruption technique developed for the treatment of wide-necked intracranial aneurysms. To date, a single report on the WEB Single-Layer (SL) treatment of intracranial aneurysms has been published with 1-months' safety results. The aim of this study is to report our experience and 6-month clinical and angiographic follow-up of endovascular treatment of wide-neck aneurysm with the WEB SL.

Background: Basilar artery occlusion (BAO) remains one of the most devastating subtypes of stroke with high mortality and poor outcome. Early recanalisation is the most powerful predictor of favourable outcome in patients with stroke, and may be improved with mechanical thrombectomy using stent retriever devices. However, the benefit in functional outcome and safety of stent retrievers are not yet well known.

Background And Purpose: Endovascular treatment of wide-neck anterior communicating artery aneurysms can often be challenging. The Woven EndoBridge (WEB) device is a recently developed intrasaccular flow disrupter dedicated to endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms. The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of the WEB Dual-Layer and WEB Single-Layer devices for the treatment of wide-neck anterior communicating artery aneurysms.

Intracranial dural arteriovenous fistulas are a rarely diagnosed type of vascular malformations, yet they are clinically relevant in a subspecialized neurovascular setting because a misdiagnosis may lead to permanent morbidity and mortality. Modern brain imaging techniques such as flat panel detector computed tomographic angiography and magnetic resonance imaging angiography have a significant role in the preoperative work-up, still digital subtraction angiography remains the neuroimaging mainstay. The most important factor guiding their management is the presence of cortical venous reflux, significantly associated with aggressive symptoms due to cerebral or spinal cord venous congestion and hemorrhage.

Article Synopsis
  • Spinal dural arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) are the most common spinal arteriovenous malformations, typically treated through microsurgery or endovascular procedures.* -
  • A study of 30 patients treated at a tertiary center between 2001 and 2008 showed that all patients achieved complete cure from a single surgical session without complications.* -
  • After an average follow-up of 32 months, 83% of patients experienced improvement, highlighting the importance of careful patient selection and standardized surgical techniques for successful outcomes.*

Introduction: Endovascular treatment of large, wide-necked intracranial aneurysms with coils is associated with low rates of initial angiographic occlusion and high rates of recurrence. The Pipeline™ Embolization Device has shown high rates of complete occlusion in uncontrolled clinical series.

Methods: The study is a prospective, controlled, randomized, multicenter, phase 2 open-label trial.

Introduction: The impact of targeted embolization of ruptured cerebral arteriovenous malformation (AVM)-associated arterial aneurysms in the acute phase of bleeding is not well known. The objective of our study was to analyze the safety and efficacy of this treatment strategy with special emphasis on its protective effect against rebleeding.

Methods: From a prospective database, all patients presenting between December 2005 and March 2012 with a ruptured cerebral AVM associated with arterial aneurysms contiguous to the hemorrhage were selected.

Background: Endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms can be technically difficult when the neck is wide. The Solitaire AB stent (Covidien, Irvine, California), the only fully retrieved stent, assists in the coiling of wide-neck intracranial aneurysms.

Objective: To evaluate the mid-term angiographic follow-up of wide-necked aneurysms treated with the Solitaire AB stent.

Background: Aneurysm recanalization remains a limitation of endovascular treatment. A new type of bioactive coil, the polyglycolic/polylactic acid-covered platinum microfilaments Nexus coil (ev3/Covidien, Irvine, CA, USA), has been proposed. The objective is to evaluate the safety and short-term and mid-term efficacy of Nexus coils in the endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms.

Flow-diverter stents are the new promising tools in the treatment of intracranial aneurysms allowing progressive aneurysm occlusion. Here, we report a case where high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging showed thrombus at fundus of the aneurysm sac, indicating a progressive intraaneurysmal thrombosis after flow-diverter placement.

Ischemic stroke is the primary cause of acquired disability in the world and its treatment is still a challenge. Intravenous (IV) thrombolysis with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) administered within 4½ hours of the onset of the symptoms is the only approved medical treatment in the acute phase of cerebral infarction. However, its efficacy is limited where there is proximal intracranial arterial occlusion, and there are many contraindications.
