The host status of 10 weed species commonly found in North Carolina, USA, was determined for the root-knot nematodes and race 4 in the greenhouse. Each weed species was challenged with 5,000 eggs/plant of either or race 4, with five replicate plants per treatment in two separate greenhouse trials.

Approximately 2,500 eggs of were inoculated on each soybean genotype grown in a steam sterilized 1:1 sand to soil mixture. Sixty days postinoculation, plants were destructively harvested to determine the host status.

Winter cover cropping may be a cost-effective method for reducing populations of in between summer cash crops, yet a gap in the knowledge remains about the response of these cover crops to and their utility in suppressing nematode populations prior to a cash crop. A "two-step" glasshouse bioassay was performed to evaluate eight winter cover crops popular in North Carolina for their direct response to infection, and to quantify their effect in reducing nematode populations for the following soybean plants.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study involving 212,631 healthy young men aged 16 to 25 years who had undergone medical examination and fitness testing (2.4 km run) from 1995 to 2015.
Higher prevalence of obesity in men compared with women, particularly among those 18 to 40 years of age, has been observed in Singapore. We explored young men's perceptions of weight change after transiting out of National Service (NS) over a 12-month period and sought to understand the underlying drivers. In-depth interviews, guided by the Health Belief Model (HBM), were conducted with young men 12 months after they had completed full-time NS.

Objective: To better contextualize active use, this study aimed to identify the barriers and enablers to engagement in a tracker-based mHealth initiative among young men who had recently completed a 19-week residential weight loss program.
Methods: A mixed methods study was conducted among 167 young men who had voluntarily enrolled in the national steps challenge (NSC), an mHealth physical activity promotion initiative, following a residential weight loss intervention.

Spectral properties of lead-free glasses doped with Dy ions in function of glass formers and glass modifiers were studied. The glass systems in a function of concentration GeO and CaO/SrO/BaO which was partially or totally replaced by CaF/SrF/BaF were synthesized. The visible luminescence spectra for obtained glasses were registered and value of parameters such as ratio of yellow-to-blue luminescence and the Commission Internationale de I'Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinates (x, y) were analyzed in detail.

This is particularly important in the case of rapidly progressing infections that require the rapid administration of an appropriately selected antibiotic. However, along with the administration of antibiotics, complications in the disease-weakened body may arise in the form of systemic mycoses, viral infections, and protozoan infections.

The goal of this study was to examine the motivations to exercise in young men following a 5-month residential weight loss programme conducted in the Singapore military as part of National Service.
Methods: We conducted a sequential mixed methods study starting with three focus groups comprising 21 programme instructors.
The guava root-knot nematode, (Syn. ), is an emerging pathogen to many crops in the world. This nematode can cause chlorosis, stunting, and reduce yields associated with the induction of many root galls on host plants.

To prevent overspill of transmission to the wider population, starting in early April 2020, residents were confined to their dormitories while measures were put in place to arrest the spread of infection. This descriptive study presents epidemiological data for a population of more than 60 000 migrant workers living in two barracks-style and four apartment-style dormitories located in western Singapore from April 3 to June 10, 2020.

In this paper, some series of lead borate glasses and glass ceramics singly doped with Dy ions were prepared and then studied using spectroscopic techniques. Our research includes mainly studies of the luminescence properties of received materials for white light. The luminescence bands associated with the characteristic F→H (blue), F→H (yellow) and F→H (red) transitions of trivalent dysprosium in lead borate systems are well observed.

Objective: This study aimed to determine the validity of wearables in measuring step count and floor count per day and assess the feasibility and effects of a 6-week team challenge intervention delivered through smartphone apps.
Methods: Staff and students from a public university were recruited between 2015 and 2016.

Near-infrared luminescence properties of Nd and Ho ions in barium gallo-germanate glasses have been reported. Several spectroscopic parameters for Nd and Ho ions have been determined from the Judd-Ofelt analysis and absorption/luminescence measurements. Quite large luminescence lifetime, quantum efficiency and stimulated emission cross-section have been obtained for the main F → I (Nd) and I → I (Ho) laser transitions of rare earths in barium gallo-germanate glasses.
