Purpose: KLHL20 is part of a CUL3-RING E3 ubiquitin ligase involved in protein ubiquitination. KLHL20 functions as the substrate adaptor that recognizes substrates and mediates the transfer of ubiquitin to the substrates. Although KLHL20 regulates neurite outgrowth and synaptic development in animal models, a role in human neurodevelopment has not yet been described.

Novel Planar Pt(II) Cyclometallated Cytotoxic Complexes with G-Quadruplex Stabilisation and Luminescent Properties.

Herein is described the development of a series of novel quadruplex DNA (QDNA)-stabilising cyclometallated square-planar metal complexes (CMCs). Melting experiments using quadruplex DNA (QDNA) demonstrated that interactions with the complexes increased the melting temperature by up to 19 °C. This QDNA stabilisation was determined in two of the major G-quadruplex structures formed in the human c-MYC promoter gene (c-MYC) and a human telomeric repeat sequence (H-Telo).

Pubertal suppression with gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists in transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) youth may affect acquisition of peak bone mass. Bone marrow adipose tissue (BMAT) has an inverse relationship with bone mineral density (BMD). To evaluate the effect of pubertal suppression on BMAT, in this pilot study we prospectively studied TGNC youth undergoing pubertal suppression and cisgender control participants with similar pubertal status over a 12-month period.

Mechanistic Target of Rapamycin Inhibition Prevents Coronary Artery Remodeling in a Murine Model of Kawasaki Disease.

Objective: Remodeling of the coronary arteries is a common feature in severe cases of Kawasaki disease (KD). This pathology is driven by the dysregulated proliferation of vascular fibroblasts, which can lead to coronary artery aneurysms, stenosis, and myocardial ischemia. We undertook this study to investigate whether inhibiting fibroblast proliferation might be an effective therapeutic strategy to prevent coronary artery remodeling in KD.

Light therapy is used to treat sleep and circadian rhythm disorders, yet there are limited studies on whether light therapy impacts electroencephalographic (EEG) activity during sleep. Therefore, we aimed to provide an overview of research studies that examined the effects of light therapy on sleep macro- and micro-architecture in populations with sleep and circadian rhythm disorders. We searched for randomized controlled trials that used light therapy and included EEG sleep measures using MEDLINE, PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials databases.

Objective: Vasculitis is characterised by inflammation of the blood vessels. While all layers of the vessel can be affected, inflammation within the intimal layer can trigger thrombosis and arterial occlusion and is therefore of particular clinical concern. Given this pathological role, we have examined how intimal inflammation develops by exploring which (and how) macrophages come to populate this normally immune-privileged site during vasculitis.

Background: Common titration strategies for vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) prioritize monitoring of tolerability during small increases in stimulation intensity over several months. Prioritization of tolerability is partially based on how quickly side effects can be perceived and reported by patients, and the delayed onset of clinical benefits from VNS.
