The effect of a new antibiotic peptomide A-70 on changes in the mesenterial lymph nodes caused by experimental peritonitis was studied. Differences in the morphological changes in rat lymph nodes in peritonitis and against the background of antibiotic therapy were revealed. Lymph nodes responded to peritoneal inflammation by reducing the area of cortical structures and expansion of the sinus system, which indicates a decrease in drainage-detoxification and immune function and determines unfavorable outcome of peritonitis.

The problem of the formation of new lymphoid structures (neolymphogenesis) is quite controversial and widely discussed in the literature. Under normal conditions, lymphoid organs arise only in the process of fetal development (organogenesis), however in long-standing chronic inflammatory processes, nonhealing wounds, autoimmune diseases, oncologic pathology spontaneous formation of new lymphoid structures was noted. The structures of the peripheral lymphoid formations include the lymphocytes arranged singly and in clusters (infiltration), lymphoid nodules and lymph nodes.

Age-related changes in mesocolic lymph node reflect the general process of ageing. In lymph node, these changes are associated with size reduction of structural and functional areas in the setting of manganese excess and iron, zinc, and selenium deficiency, which determines the reduction of lymphoid tissue functional activity in elderly and senile ages. We have realized the idea to control the lymphatic system functions using phytotherapy.

The comparative experimental study of the lymph drainage and the structural organization of the inguinal lymph nodes (LN) was performed in 160 Wistar rats aged 3-5 and 12-15 months. Age-related changes in inguinal LN were demonstrated that were associated with the reduction of the medium LN and the directivity of lymph flow to the polar LN of the inguinal group. The aged animals showed the decelerated lymph flow and lymph passage through LN due to age-related LN transformation that included the development of the connective tissue, various degree of of structural and functional zone compaction, rarefication of the paracortical zone structure and reduced of lymphocytopoiesis in germinal centers.

Morpho-functional state of lymph node (LN) after the sciatic nerve compression was studied experimentally in rats and the application of lymphotropic drugs was substantiated. Sciatic nerve compression resulted in the changes of the relative area, occupied by structures of LN and in formation of definite cortico-medullary ratio. With the increase of duration of postcompression period, the stable augmentation of the dimensions of a thymus-dependent zone was found in combination with the prevalence of a thymus-independent zone, which is indicative of the mixed variant of immune response to sciatic nerve compression.

The regularities of morphologic transformation of the cervical superficial lymph node were studied following the insertion of implants into mandibular pars alveolaris in the region of molar teeth. Cobalt-chromic alloy, titanium and titanium nickelide were used as implantation materials. The implantation material composition was found to define the character of reactive structural transformations of the lymph node.

Blood lymphocyte dehydrogenase activity (SDH, LDH, mitochondrial and cytoplasmic alpha-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase, NADH-diaphorase) was studied in 140 Wistar rats at different time intervals following intraosseous insertion of titanium implants. It was shown that implantation was accompanied with an increase in enzyme activities indicating a rise in the intensity of energy production processes. Cytochemical analysis of lymphocyte enzymes enables to formulate a "prognostic scenario" describing titanium implant interaction with biological environmental factors and organism tissues to assess the long-term results of implantation.

The experiment was performed in male Wistar rats to study the influence of natural sorbents (Tyumen diatomites and Novosibirsk kudurites) administered with food at dose 6% of its dry weight on lymph nodes. The data obtained demonstrated that addition of natural sorbents to food does not exert pathological influence on lymph nodes of experimental animals. Sorbent diet affects follicular and paracortical lymph node structures, changing their sizes and cytological composition; natural sorbents increase immune potential which is realized after the impairing action.

Background: Tracer studies are an important tool to obtain information about the processes involved in the immunological response. Colloidal gold is widely used as a tracer, but its small size of label can cause some difficulty during low-resolution analysis. To overcome this difficulty, we developed a new method to follow the route of tracer movement within lymph nodes.

Duodenal carcinoma is a rare disease and is encountered in no more than 10% of cases of the Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. The article discusses a rare case in which an isolated duodenal gastrinoma was removed endoscopically with subsequent recovery from the Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Study of the serum gastrin concentration with provocative tests allowed the Zollinger-Ellison syndrome to be diagnosed and the radicality of duodenal gastrinoma removal to be controlled.

Surface activity, biochemical composition and morphology of the rat lungs were studied in norm, under effect of acute hypoxia and after infusion of obsidan (1 mg/100g). The data permit suggesting that under the influence of obsidan and hypoxia a stability index of surfactants and quantity of phospholipids decreased, while the quantity of lysophosphatidylcholine and lysophosphatidylethanolamine increased. Morphology studies show that after hypoxia and obsidan infusion oedema and cell destruction developed in the lung.

We have developed an immunoadsorbent (IA) for ex vivo removal of IgE after in vitro screening of matrix (Sepharose and tresyl-activated Toyopearl) and ligand (monospecific rabbit polyclonal anti-IgE antiserum and monoclonal antibodies (Abs) or their Fab fragments). Specific adsorptive capacity (SAC) for IgE was maximal in Sepharose-based IA with both types of Abs. Fab-containing IA on Sepharose retained 70-90% of the SAC of native Ab-containing IA.

Morphodynamics of the rat popliteal lymph node structures has a variously directed character in Siberia and Antarctic. Reorganization of the lymph node in Siberia is accompanied with increase of the medulla and in Antarctic--of the cortex. The dynamics of certain constructive changes in the node depends on circulation of lymphocytes.

Fractional and molar rates of lecithin:cholesterol aminotransferase (LCAT)-catalyzed reaction were decreased, while free cholesterol fraction was increased in blood serum of rats within 24 hrs after single administration of CCl4 I mg/kg. Cathergene, contributing to a decrease in hepatocyte necrosis, affected positively the blood lipid spectrum in CCl4 treated rats. The cathergene protective effect, observed also after acute ethanol poisoning (6 g/kg), involved an increase by about 30% of the fractional and molar rates of LCAT-reactions; it also normalized the cholesterol esterification coefficient in blood serum.

The 120 male rats were exposed to CCl4(1 mg/kg) or ethanol (6 g/kg) to produce acute liver injury. Previous injection of cathergen (+)-cyanidonol-3) decreased the region of hepatocytes necrosis, stabilized microvessels diameter and increased muss cells degranulation. These results indicate hepatoprotective and angioprotective effect of cathergen, more expressed in exposure CCl4.
