The oceanographic conditions of the Southern California Bight (SCB) dictate the distribution and abundance of prey resources and therefore the presence of mobile predators, such as goose-beaked whales (). Goose-beaked whales are deep-diving odontocetes that spend a majority of their time foraging at depth. Due to their cryptic behavior, little is known about how they respond to seasonal and interannual changes in their environment.

Sequential extraction was used to study the historical dynamics and fluxes of the chemical fractions of manganese (Mn) in sediments collected from the Pearl River Estuary (PRE), southern China. Results revealed that the proportion of Mn associated with different fractions decreased in the order of acid-soluble fraction (F1) > reducible fraction (F2) > residual fraction (F4) > oxidizable fraction (F3). F1 (47%) was the dominant Mn fraction, indicating the strong bioavailability of Mn to aquatic organisms in the PRE.

Sequential extraction was used to study the mobility and ecological risk of chemical fractions of six heavy metals in sediments collected from the Pearl River Delta (PRE) in China. Results revealed that residual fractions (F4) were the dominant forms for Cr and Ni in surface sediments, indicating that they were primarily stable in nature and had low bioavailability and ecotoxicity. Cd had a high environmental risk owing to its higher availability in acid-soluble fraction (F1), whereas Pb occurred predominantly in the reducible fraction (F2) in surface sediments.

Exstrophy variants are uncommon developmental anomalies of the bladder; the variants involving only the bladder neck are extremely rare. There are only three case reports of inferior vesical fissure (IVF) to date, and usually it's uncommonly associated with other malformations. A combination of inferior vesical fistula (IVF) as an exstrophy variant with urethral atresia and anorectal malformation has not been described previously.

Randomised trials, especially those intended to directly inform clinical practice and policy, should be designed to reflect all those who could benefit from the intervention under test should it prove effective. This does not always happen. The UK National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) INCLUDE project identified many groups in the UK that are under-served by trials, including ethnic minorities.
