Aspiring for inclusive sport: reflecting on intersections around exclusion.

This paper attempts to address the intersections of gender, caste, class, sexuality, region, and other social attributes, that constitute the social web in India influencing the possibilities and exclusions within sport. Being at the margins of this social web makes individuals vulnerable to unethical practices such as discrimination, exclusion, and erasures of their lived realities, by both systemic and everyday practices. Using the lens of social reproduction the paper attempts to capture not just the productive work that sustains a sporting milieu in society, but the labour that produces leisure, entertainment, play, rest, fitness, pleasure, well-being, and care that sustains and is further generated by families, communities and entire societies.

Repair of the Bulbospongiosus Muscle to Suspend the Penis to the Pubic Bones in Proximal Hypospadias.

Background: In proximal hypospadias, ventral curvature is invariable and most have penoscrotal transposition, and we observed that the base of the penis (BOP) was located on the inferior aspect of the pubic bones in those, in contrast to the location of the BOP at the anterior end in normal penises. We also observed an unfused bulbospongiosus muscle (BSM) at surgery in those. The aim was to assess the impact of repairing the unfused BSM or transection and straightening of the urethral plate at the first operation on the low BOP.

A One-Pot Biocatalytic Cascade to Access Diverse L-Phenylalanine Derivatives from Aldehydes or Carboxylic Acids.

Non-standard amino acids (nsAAs) that are L-phenylalanine derivatives with aryl ring functionalization have long been harnessed in natural product synthesis, therapeutic peptide synthesis, and diverse applications of genetic code expansion. Yet, to date these chiral molecules have often been the products of poorly enantioselective and environmentally harsh organic synthesis routes. Here, we reveal the broad specificity of multiple natural pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP)-dependent enzymes, specifically an L-threonine transaldolase, a phenylserine dehydratase, and an aminotransferase, towards substrates that contain aryl side chains with diverse substitutions.

Adherence to weekly iron folic acid supplementation and associated factors among adolescent girls - A mixed-method study.

Context: Despite the Weekly Iron folic acid supplementation (WIFS) program, the prevalence of anaemia among adolescent girls remains high. Phase 1 Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) task force study conducted in 2016 in Kallur showed that the IFA provision rate for adolescent girls was 72% but the consumption rate was only 15% in the Kallur area. The present study was done to identify the gaps for the difference between provision and consumption rate of weekly IFA tablets among adolescent girls using the WHO conceptual framework in home-based settings.

Community health promotion and medical provision and impact on neonates (CHAMPION2) and support to rural India's public education system and impact on numeracy and literacy scores (STRIPES2): an update to the study protocol (v 11) for a cluster randomised trial in Madhya Pradesh, India.

Background: This update outlines amendments to the CHAMPION2/STRIPES2 cluster randomised trial protocol primarily made due to the COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdown in India in 2020. These amendments were in line with national guidelines for health research during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: We did not change the original trial design, eligibility, and outcomes.

Statistical analysis plan for a cluster randomised trial in Madhya Pradesh, India: community health promotion and medical provision and impact on neonates (CHAMPION2).

Background: Neonatal mortality in India has fallen steadily and was estimated to be 24 per 1000 live births in the year 2017. However, neonatal mortality remains high in rural parts of the country. The Community Health Promotion and Medical Provision and Impact On Neonates (CHAMPION2) trial investigates the effect of a complex health intervention on neonatal mortality in the Satna District of Madhya Pradesh.

The effect of actuation frequency on clot integration with the Tigertriever device: A preliminary in vitro study.

Background: The Tigertriever stent retriever (Rapid Medical) can be actively expanded and contracted by the operator, which allows for several actuation-related parameters to be optimized to potentially improve device efficacy. These parameters have not yet been evaluated. We conducted a benchtop study to evaluate the effect of actuation frequency on clot integration within the stent.

Recent developments in enzymatic and microbial biosynthesis of flavor and fragrance molecules.

Flavors and fragrances are an important class of specialty chemicals for which interest in biomanufacturing has risen during recent years. These naturally occurring compounds are often amenable to biosynthesis using purified enzyme catalysts or metabolically engineered microbial cells in fermentation processes. In this review, we provide a brief overview of the categories of molecules that have received the greatest interest, both academically and industrially, by examining scholarly publications as well as patent literature.

Utility of F-15 diuretic MAG3 renography in assessment of paediatric hydronephrosis.

Introduction: Diuretic renography is crucial in evaluation of paediatric hydronephrosis. Furosemide is conventionally given 15-20 min after radiolabelled tracer (F+15/F+20 protocol), however this is equivocal in around 15% of patients. Giving furosemide 15 min prior to tracer (F-15 MAG3 protocol) has been suggested as an additional tool in the investigation of patients with suspected upper urinary tract obstruction.

Polymeric materials are ubiquitous to modern life. However, reliance of petroleum for polymeric building blocks is not sustainable. The synthesis of macromolecules from recalcitrant polymer waste feedstocks, such as plastic waste and lignocellulosic biomass, presents an opportunity to bypass the use of petroleum-based feedstocks.

A consensus process to identify research priorities in paediatric urology in the United Kingdom.

Introduction: Paediatric urologists manage a spectrum of conditions, much of the evidence for relevant treatment pathways is of low quality. For many conditions treatment varies according to location and surgeon; children with the same condition might have surgery in one unit but watchful waiting in another. Underlying this variation are differences in opinion, and insufficient high-level evidence with few prospective randomized studies.

Ureteric Clipping for the Treatment of Urinary Incontinence in Girls With Ectopic Ureters: Predicting Who Is Going to Dilate and Does It Matter?

Objective: To assess the effectiveness and midterm follow-up of laparoscopic upper pole ectopic ureteral clipping to treat urinary incontinence in girls with duplex kidneys and non/poorly functioning upper pole moieties. To see if preoperative characteristics increased the likelihood of significant postoperative dilatation and whether this dilation has clinical significance.

Methods: A database review identified children who had undergone ureteric clipping at our institution.

Paediatric acute epididymo-orchitis temporally related to SARS-CoV-2 infection: A case series and review of the literature.

Introduction: Acute epididymo-orchitis (AEO) is becoming an increasingly common differential diagnosis in children with acute scrotal pain. It has been noted in adult men that SARS-CoV-2 has a propensity for involving the testis and epididymis, affecting sperm and testosterone production. Our literature search revealed only one case report of COVID-19 presenting with epididymo-orchitis in a child.

Sociocultural and drug-related factors associated with adherence to iron-folic acid supplementation among pregnant women - A mixed-methods study.

Background: The National Family Health Survey of India (NFHS-5) revealed a lapse in the advancement of mitigating anemia despite free supplementation of iron-folic acid tablets (IFAT) and improvement in IFAT coverage during pregnancy. The local sociocultural beliefs and community perspective toward IFAT are pivotal in reducing the gap between IFAT coverage and consumption. Hence, we proposed the study to assess adherence to IFAT among rural pregnant women and explore the associated factors.

Biocompatible polysaccharide fabricated graphene oxide nanoparticles: A versatile nanodrug carrier to deliver κ- carrageenan against cancer cells.

A graphene oxide mediated hybrid nano system for pH stimuli-responsive and in vitro drug delivery targeted for cancer was described in this study. Graphene oxide (GO) functionalized Chitosan (CS) mediated nanocarrier capped with xyloglucan (XG) was fabricated with and without Kappa carrageenan (κ-C) from red seaweed, Kappaphycus alverzii, as an active drug. FTIR, EDAX, XPS, XRD, SEM and HR-TEM studies were carried out for GO-CS-XG nanocarrier loaded with and without active drugs to understand the physicochemical properties.

Pyonephrosis among Patients with Pyelonephritis Admitted in Department of Nephrology and Urology of a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.

Introduction: Pyonephrosis is a severe complication of pyelonephritis leading to rapid progression to sepsis and loss of renal function resulting in nephrectomy. Early identification of pyonephrosis based on clinical or radiological characteristics amongst pyelonephritis is paramount. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of pyonephrosis among patients with pyelonephritis admitted to the Department of Nephrology and Urology of a tertiary care centre.

Emergency scrotal exploration in children: Following a change in mindset in the UK.

A survey of 200 emergency scrotal explorations done over four paediatric surgical centres in the UK revealed that the incidence of finding testicular torsion (TT) was 24% and the preoperative utilisation of Doppler ultrasound (DUS) was 10% [1]. We changed our practice to include better preoperative utilisation of a clinical risk score (TWIST) and DUS. This led to a significant increase in the incidence of finding TT from 18% to 53%.

Pre-Glenn aorto-pulmonary collaterals in single-ventricle patients.

Background: In single-ventricle patients undergoing staged-bidirectional Glenn, 36-59% have aorto-pulmonary collateral flow, but risk factors and clinical outcomes are unknown. We hypothesise that shunt type and catheter haemodynamics may predict pre-bidirectional Glenn aorto-pulmonary collateral burden, which may predict death/transplantation, pulmonary artery or aorto-pulmonary collateral intervention.

Methods: Retrospective cohort study of patients undergoing a Norwood procedure for single-ventricle anatomy.

Methodology for the early identification of neurodevelopmental disorders in the primary and preschool children in rural India by applying intervention module developed for teachers.

Objective: Neurodevelopmental disorders NDD are neurologic processing problems that interfere with learning in children. Primary and preschool teachers who are essential links in public health reach out to such children do not receive any formal training to identify these disorders. Hence, a primary and preschool level intervention addressing the issue is proposed.

Low yield from imaging after non urine tract infections in children treated in primary care and emergency department.

Background: Imaging is recommended for selected children following urinary tract infections (UTIs) to look for actionable structural abnormalities. Non is considered high risk in many national guidelines, but evidence is mainly drawn from small cohorts from tertiary centres.

Objective: To ascertain imaging yield from infants and children <12 years diagnosed with their first confirmed UTI (pure single growth >100 000 cfu per ml) in primary care or an emergency department without admission stratified by bacteria type.

Physical, Chemical and Functional Attributes of Honey Infused Extrudates.

Owing to the demand for the consumption of healthy extrudates, this study explored the infusion of (coconut inflorescence sap) honey in rice flour, corn flour and coconut milk residue blend-based extrudates. honey, the concentrated coconut inflorescence sap, has numerous nutrients and a natural source of essential vitamins. Hence, the potential of honey as a biofortifying compound for the production of healthy extrudates was investigated.
