Background: Despite an abundance of therapeutic options, advanced-stage follicular lymphoma remains incurable. Furthermore, the ideal sequence and absolute benefit of post-induction therapy is unclear. We designed SWOG S0801 to assess the efficacy and safety of consolidative radioimmunotherapy and sequential maintenance rituximab following chemoimmunotherapy.

Although race models have been extensively used to study inhibitory control, the mechanisms that enable change of reach plans in the context of race models remain unexplored. We used a redirect task in which targets occasionally changed their locations to study the control of reaching movements during movement planning and execution phases. We tested nine different race model architectures that could explain the redirect behavior of reaching movements.

Management of venous thromboembolism (VTE) remains challenging in patients with hematologic malignancy who undergo hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) due to prolonged thrombocytopenia. This study aims to (1) determine the incidence of VTE recurrence and bleeding during autologous HCT, (2) assess the impact of continuing vs temporarily withholding anticoagulation during thrombocytopenia, and (3) explore the impact of platelet threshold among other variables on the risk of bleeding. We performed this observational study in adults with lymphoma and myeloma who underwent autologous HCT between 2006 and 2015.

Pretargeted radioimmunotherapy (PRIT) has demonstrated remarkable efficacy targeting tumor antigens, but immunogenicity and endogenous biotin blocking may limit clinical translation. We describe a new PRIT approach for the treatment of multiple myeloma (MM) and other B-cell malignancies, for which we developed an anti-CD38-bispecific fusion protein that eliminates endogenous biotin interference and immunogenic elements. In murine xenograft models of MM and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), the CD38-bispecific construct demonstrated excellent blood clearance and tumor targeting.

Autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) consolidation has become a standard approach for patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), yet there is little consensus on the role of total body irradiation (TBI) as part of high-dose transplantation conditioning. We analyzed 75 consecutive patients with MCL who underwent ASCT at our institution between 2001 and 2011 with either TBI-based (n = 43) or carmustine, etoposide, cytarabine, melphalan (BEAM; n = 32) high-dose conditioning. Most patients (97%) had chemosensitive disease and underwent transplantation in first remission (89%).

The shapes and lengths of the alkyl chains of conjugated polymers greatly affect the efficiencies of organic photovoltaic devices. This often results in a trade-off between solubility and self-organizing behavior; however, each material has specific optimal chains. Here we report on the effect of alkyl side chains on the film morphologies, crystallinities, and optoelectronic properties of new benzobisthiazole-naphthobisthiadiazole (PBBT-NTz) polymers.

Introduction: Infusional da-EPOCH-R (dose-adjusted etoposide, doxorubicin, and cyclophosphamide with vincristine, prednisone, and rituximab) is a dose-intensified regimen with a potential role in treating high-risk subtypes of aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL). Studies of da-EPOCH-R use daily injections of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (GCSF) to tailor chemotherapy dosing, and whether 1-time administration of pegylated GCSF (peg-GCSF) is as efficacious has not been addressed.

Patients And Methods: We reviewed aggressive B-NHL patients treated at our center with first-line da-EPOCH-R for clinician choice of growth factor, and analyzed dose level achieved, rate of unplanned hospitalizations, and patient outcomes.

Recognizing the significant biological and clinical heterogeneity of mature T cell and natural killer (NK)/T cell lymphomas, the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation invited experts to develop clinical practice recommendations related to the role of autologous hematopoietic cell transplantation (auto-HCT) and allogeneic HCT (allo-HCT) for specific histological subtypes. We used the GRADE methodology to aid in moving from evidence to decision making and ultimately to generating final recommendations. Auto-HCT in front-line consolidation is recommended in peripheral T cell lymphoma not otherwise specified (PTCL-NOS), angioimmunoblastic T cell lymphoma (AITL), anaplastic large cell lymphoma-anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALCL-ALK)-negative, NK/T cell (disseminated), enteropathy-associated T cell lymphoma (EATL), and hepatosplenic lymphomas.

In contrast to hand movements, the existence of a neural representation of saccade kinematics is unclear. Saccade kinematics is typically thought to be specified by motor error/desired displacement and generated by brain stem circuits that are not penetrable to voluntary control. We studied the influence of instructed hand movement velocity on the kinematics of saccades executed without explicit instructions.

Axonal growth cones extend during neural development in response to precise distributions of extracellular cues. Deleted in colorectal cancer (DCC), a receptor for the chemotropic guidance cue netrin-1, directs F-actin reorganization, and is essential for mammalian neural development. To elucidate how the extracellular distribution of netrin-1 influences the distribution of DCC and F-actin within axonal growth cones, we patterned nanoarrays of substrate bound netrin-1 using lift-off nanocontact printing.

Constitutive B-cell receptor signaling leads to overexpression of the antiapoptotic BCL-2 protein and is implicated in the pathogenesis of many types of B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL). The BCL-2 small-molecule inhibitor venetoclax shows promising clinical response rates in several lymphomas, but is not curative as monotherapy. Radiotherapy is a rational candidate for combining with BCL-2 inhibition, as DNA damage caused by radiotherapy increases the activity of pro-apoptotic BCL-2 pathway proteins, and lymphomas are exquisitely sensitive to radiation.

We investigate how mass shootings influence the stock price of firearms manufacturers. While it is well known that mass shootings lead to increased firearms sales, the response from financial markets is unclear. On one hand, given the observed short-term increase in demand, firearm stock prices may rise due to the unexpected financial windfall for the firm.

In recent years, the number of approved and investigational agents that can be safely administered for the treatment of lymphoma patients for a prolonged period of time has substantially increased. Many of these novel agents are evaluated in early-phase clinical trials in patients with a wide range of malignancies, including solid tumors and lymphoma. Furthermore, with the advances in genome sequencing, new "basket" clinical trial designs have emerged that select patients based on the presence of specific genetic alterations across different types of solid tumors and lymphoma.

Background: The phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase delta (PI3Kδ) inhibitor idelalisib has been shown to block downstream intracellular signaling, reduce the production of prosurvival chemokines and induce apoptosis in classical Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) cell lines. It has also been shown to inhibit regulatory T cells and myeloid-derived suppressor cells in other tumor models. We hypothesized that inhibiting PI3Kδ would have both direct and indirect antitumor effects by directly targeting the malignant cells as well as modulating the inflammatory microenvironment.

The treatment landscape for mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is rapidly evolving toward the incorporation of novel and biologically targeted pharmaceuticals with improved disease activity and gentler toxicity profiles compared with conventional chemotherapeutics. Upfront intensive treatment of MCL includes autologous stem cell transplantation (SCT) consolidation aimed at deepening and lengthening disease remission, but subsequent relapse occurs. Maintenance therapy after autologous SCT in patients with MCL in remission features lower-intensity treatments given over extended periods to improve disease outcomes.

Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) affects approximately 4500 patients/year in the US and demonstrates a male to female ratio of approximately 4:1. While the pathobiology underlying this ratio is unknown, the hematopoietic system is characterized by sex-related differences in androgen receptor (AR) expression, leading us to hypothesize that the male-biased incidence of MCL may reflect sex-related differences in AR signaling during MCL lymphomagenesis. To explore the AR axis in MCL, we evaluated AR expression in MCL cell lines and human tumors, and tested the impact of androgen pathway inhibition on MCL proliferation.
